“That’s all demons do.” The way Jinu had looked at her had been lacerating. Furious with her for not understanding the truth, and furious with himself that it was the truth at all. “Feel.”
At the time, Rumi had scoffed, and dismissed the idea as just a demon's attempt to give himself a justification to be what he was. Demons were evil, pure and simple, with nothing more to it. But now, since the Honmoon was sealed, since all other demons were banished, and since Jinu sacrificed himself, she’s forced to shoulder that there isn’t a single other being left on the planet who understands what it means to feel so deeply that the world frays around you.
But Mira and Zoey are trying. God knows they’re trying.

Rumi knew she screwed up, she didn’t mean to let it get as far as it has… It happened so naturally and slowly she didn’t even realize until it started to hurt whenever Zoey had to leave for a few days for work. Celine has gotten into the habit of reminding her daily that she is just hurting Zoey and putting herself in danger. She knows that she isn’t enough for Zoey, not as things are now- not until the Honmoon is gold and these patterns scarring her skin are gone.
She learned from her mistake of letting Zoey get close, she keeps Mira at arms length. Close enough to be comfortable friends, but nothing more, she did her best to keep it this way.
It was a shock when Zoey sat her down about 6 months ago, confessing that she was starting to have feelings for Mira. She was insistent that she still loved Rumi. Overall it was a painful relief. She knew that Mira could never hurt Zoey, and that she could give her girlfriend something couldn'tOr
Zoey is dating her two best friends, Rumi has been frustratingly touch avoidant and ignoring her own feelings- Mira tries to fill in the gaps and get their leader to open up (Gotta update this a bit at some point)

Or. Rumi clutches her hands to her sides, letting her claws dig into her palm. Celine watches her with a softening expression, taking a breath before letting it out.
“Oh Rumi” she says, cupping her cheek, the warmth of her palm sinking into her skin.
“Don’t ruin these young girls' lives. Leave them alone. They have a whole world ahead of them” Celine pulls away and heads for the door but at the last moment she turns to look back at her, “don’t let your selfishness be the thing that kills them”
or. What if Celine hadn't turned Rumi into a hunter? what if she had seen the abomination of a child that had been left to her and thought she might as well turn her into something useful.
and then set off to find the next generation of hunters.
