  2. Summary

They'd found her by their door - a tiny child with golden eyes and long, sharp ears, whose teeth bit through her gums with each smile, before her lips spilled that giggle, warmer than the sun itself - and raised her as their own, Luz Noceda.

Her, the shunned two-headed calf of instinct and reason, walked into the woods with tears in her eyes and a hunger gnawing on her insides, following through ruins and cemeteries, taken by something that understands her better than she understands it.

And all too soon, the rifts beckon her. The blue blood of the titan, which drips through the layers of reality, opening for her the gate to a world where she is promised, by a man with a gold-beaked mask, that this is home, and that he, Belos, is god.

    OR

Luz - the strangest addition to the Gravesfield suburbs - is a clearly-adopted child with wild hair and wilder dreams. But nothing plays as it should, and soon, the hope of somewhere full of acceptance and love twists itself into the golden chain around her neck, keeping her as the beastly warden of a war-waging empire of fanatics and crusaders.

  3. Summary

Evelyn comes back from the dead the way she went down:

She kicks and screams - the same dark skin as before, this time breaking through the mud of the ritual site, all on her own, screams gurgling in angry yowling, not the pleading he usually expects from birthing grimwalkers.

In the dark of the chambers, her eyes glow a brilliant red, the color found reflected in the blood that drips down her chin.

“Hush now-” he commands. He did this the last time around, too.

The grimwalker does not listen. It climbs fully to the soil, its limbs crooked, bending more times, in more ways than they should.

There’s dirt and rock, all shorn by talons sharp, black as tar. Her chest heaves, breaths cracking through with a raspy, wet sound.

The fingers, deformed and crooked, reach and grasp, drag the weedy child’s body through the rocks.

Phillip shakes his head, takes a step back. This is not what he predicted would happen.

(Still - a part of his brain says, he can work with this in the end)

OR the one where more than two humans came to Bonesborough in the 1600's, and while Caleb got away, Evelyn didn't. Non-chronological order of publishing

    Summary

It’s immediately clear there’s a fight going down between some real powerful motherfuckers, and that his crew is not here. Except Kidd doesn’t know why he’s here.

Red-Hair Shanks just cleaved the Victoria Punk. He- how-

Blinking through stinging eyes, he can make out some figures.

    The scene sharpens into focus.

Donquixote Doflamingo crushes the limp body of Mugiwara Luffy under his shitty tacky kitten heels. Trafalgar Law, missing an arm and gushing blood from a dozen gunshots to his chest, grits his teeth in rage as tears roll down his face.

In which Kidd dies, but gets thrown back in time for a second chance.

    Summary

Belos sighed, more disappointed than anything else. Why, after so many years, after being disciplined every time he acted out, did Philip insist on playing games like these? For such a brilliant young man, he never seemed to truly learn the lessons Belos tried to drill into that head of his. “You,” he said slowly, “take delight in vexing me.”

“You take delight in murdering your brother’s clones,” Philip snapped back. “It’s not like the choice actually matters. In two months they’ll all be dead.”

In which, fourteen years before the events of canon, a teenage Philip Wittebane has a mishap with Titan's Blood, ends up in a different timeline, and very much does not want to be here. Unfortunately for him, Belos does want him here, and if there's anything he's learned in fourteen years it's that Belos gets what he wants.

Except when it comes to the Day of Unity. He won't succeed in that.

    He will not.

    Summary

Title taken from “Basket of Figs,” by Ellen Bass.

    .

There’s—a certain stance, maybe, or the way light hits his captain just right when he stands on the rail of the Merry, all sharp curves of jawline and the gentle slope of his neck and bare shoulders. The contrast of his dark hair and tanned skin. The swell of his calf, too, Zoro finds distracting. The artful leanness of his captain.

In those moments Zoro’s knees go weak. He nearly drops his swords, he’s so overcome with it.

Beautiful, he thinks, and he’s got no clue if it’s him or his alpha thinking it. Beautiful. We'd be so good to you.

    .

Zoro falls for his captain headfirst, convicted in body and soul and heart all at once. He aches.
