Summary
Merlin accidentally reveals his magic to Arthur. It goes about as well as he can expect. Only Arthur is still furious about the lies between them, and refuses to let Merlin back into his role as manservant. So Merlin requests to be made a knight. If Arthur can't trust him to be a friend, at least Merlin can continue to save his life. Their friendship hangs in the balance, and it is unclear whether they are going to come through on the other side stronger than ever, or broken beyond repair.

Summary
Hurt by a confrontation with a drunk Arthur, Merlin decides he's had enough and leaves Camelot. As he's leaving, Agravaine follows him, determined to kill him so he'll no longer cause him further issues. So Merlin reveals his magic and kills him instead before taking the man's horse and leaving. He travels for a while, playing music at taverns to earn food and shelter before he ends up helping an injured patrol of Caerleon Knights. Queen Annis takes him in and assigns him to train her physicians before discovering his heritage and naming him a knight and reinstating his father's name.
Along the way, Merlin becomes embroiled in courts and councils, three stubborn and playful princesses, and attends King Arthur's wedding at his Queen's side.
Before long, Merlin is lord of his own township, conducting magic lessons, and locating Morgana to try and bring her to his estate as a peace offering to the court of Camelot.
He really wishes he'd found a cave to hide in instead of joining Queen Annis some days....

Summary
AU where Arthur has a twin sister, Artesia. Merlin is a knight in Camelot and magic is no longer out-lawed.
“Merls, I see how you two look at each other” Gwaine exclaimed “For fucks sake!”
“We do not look at each other in any way” Merlin replied flustered.
“Oh, come off it, Merls. During training today, you looked like you wanted to be a damsel in distress just so that your knight in shining armor could save you!” Gwaine joked, laughing at Merlin’s fluster.
“I did not,” Merlin laughed, blushing. A detail that didn’t go unnoticed by Gwaine.
“You did! Oh I bet. Your crush on the princess is embarrassing” Merlin threw something at Gwaine, making him laugh even louder.
“Shut it! someone is going to hear you” Merlin said while Gwaine kept laughing.
He didn’t deny his crush. Arthur frowned with a knot on his throat and he walked away. He should have known better than letting himself hope. A new day awakened and Arthur decided to put Merlin and Artesia out of his mind. He really hoped that in some way that he misinterpreted all the situation someway but clearly not.

Summary
In which Balinor is the Earl of Elador and he saves Camelot from Kilgharrah in a ball. Uther rewards him by allowing Merlin, his son, to train as a knight in Camelot. Merlin is not pleased by that decision but he stays to spite his parents. He also ends up falling in love with the Camelot's prince. A poor decision on his part.
Merlin may be the greatest wizard but he is also the greatest fool in love. He finds happiness anyways.

He could see, in the corner of his eye, the tears glimmering in Gaius’ eyes that threatened to spill over. The soft smiles adorning his knights’ faces. Hear the soft gasps that escaped Gwen’s and Morgana’s lips.
With a flourish, Arthur drew his sword from its scabbard, the blade gleaming in the sunlight as he held it aloft for all to see. Everyone’s eyes fixed upon the gleaming steel, their breath held in anticipation. He placed the flat of the sword upon Merlin's shoulder, his touch sending shivers down Merlin's spine.
Just the way he wanted to do so for nearly a decade now.
OR WHERE arthur becomes the king camelot desperately needed and merlin gets the recognition he deserved. he also becomes a knight. just like he deserved to.

"Gwaine." Arthur says finally, already feeling a headache set in.
"King Arthur Pendragon of Camelot." Gwaine smiles gracefully??
At this, the knights and Arthur blanch as one. Of course he is possessed, Gwaine won't use a proper title to save his life."I am not possessed..." Gwaine declares, looking directly at Arthur, then a bit to his left, gaze softening almost imperceptibly, expression incredulous as he says, "... especially not by a fictitious arthropod/villain of a show that doesn't air for 1500 years."
Arthur cannot tell you what the bastard meant with such an absurd proclamation, considering how it was utter codswallop. But Merlin seems to understand something he doesn't, and gives out a sort of 'meep' sound.

"No", Lancelot said. Everyone took in a sharp breath. Merlin looked worried, but gave him an encouraging nod. He never meant to put his friend in an awkward position. "This is a great honor, my lord, and I thank you for it, but it have to say no."
"You used to want to nothing more than to gain a knighthood", Arthur said.
"I still do, my lord, but I will not be knighted under false pretenses a second time", Lancelot replied.
