Summary
Loki is the child of tales long since assumed to be legends among the Jotuns. He is born with warm skin and eyes the color of fire, marking him as an extraordinarily powerful sorcerer-- one who can control both fire and frost. His distinguishing traits are hidden from all Jotuns in the realm, save for the royal family. He is nameless to the people of Jotunheimr, simply "the prince," lest his name ever expose him to the Asgardians.
Odin has fallen into the Odinsleep and Thor holds the throne in his absence. After Volstagg and Hogun are killed while trespassing on Jotun soil, Thor responds with an army to take back the casket, fearful of the Jotuns possessing such power. Thor goes searching for something to barter with in Jotunheimr.

Thor dragged him until they were at Thor's car, and he turned and threw the smaller man against it. Thor kept him pressed against it and pointed his finger at him. He had this look on his face and in his eyes, which was really scaring Loki.
Thor said "You listen to me." His voice quiet, but frightening. He said "I do fucking care about you, Loki. I do love you, don't ever fucking doubt that I love you. But I am warning you...If you don't clean your shit up, stop blaming other people for your problems, I will leave. And you won't ever see me again, do you understand me? You stop this shit Loki, right now, it's madness."

It is strange how often a heart must be broken before the years can make it wise. Loki has always known coming into this that Thor had never loved him, but he had hoped that his husband had at least respected him enough not to defile their marriage in this way. They did say the first to fall is the first to get hurt, and loathe was he to admit it. Now, Loki is left picking up the fragments of his fragile heart, and while time will let it heal, he knows the scar this leaves will undoubtedly be ugly.

Summary
When Loki is unexpectedly charged with entertaining the Odinson during the crown prince’s stay in Jotunheim, he’s less than enthused. After all, he has important, forgotten runt business to attend to— arcane magical experiments, curling up with a cup of tea, skulking about the library, etcetera. But Thor’s unfailing sunshine seems determined to melt his resolve and Loki soon finds himself inviting Thor deeper into his world. Places he’s never shared with anyone else.
Somewhere between racing goats across the glacial Jotun hinterlands and stealing glances at the royal hot springs, Loki realizes he’s grown to enjoy Thor’s company a little too much. Thor seems equally, inexplicably keen but Loki’s not so naive to think it could last. After all, Thor will soon return to Asgard, be crowned king of the universe, and forget all about his year abroad in Loki’s frozen wasteland.
It would surely be a fool’s errand to get attached…

Stone walls, ivy-covered, sprawling square house, with this large tree just perfect for climbing in front touching the upper windows, and the setting sun making everything golden and impossibly perfect. Idyllic. That was the word.
