“There was another thing,” said Bond. “Things happened so fast when we got back with him, I never had a chance to show you this. The woman who helped me, she carried a custom handgun. It’s the sort of thing your predecessor appreciated; I thought you might find it interesting,”Bond held out the weapon to Q, who took it from him gently, as if he were holding something fragile and beautiful. He reflexively checked that it wasn’t loaded, turned it over.
Q gave Bond a sad smile. “Did you notice this etching?” he asked, pointing to a spot near the trigger where the metal had been rubbed slightly smoother, as if its owner had touched the spot frequently.
“I did. I couldn’t read the Chinese characters. I’d guess the English letters are someone’s initials.”
Q nodded. “Yes. They’re mine.”

“Looking good, 007.”
The compliment halts Bond in his tracks. It’s not Moneypenny’s sultry voice in his ear. Nor is it Tanner’s, with its warm, friendly professionalism.
Bond searches around the exterior of the hotel for cameras. One glints at him from above the entrance, reflecting the day’s sunlight back at him. It’s a hot summer afternoon in Dubrovnik, and he doesn’t have plans to kill anyone until at least tomorrow.
All in all, it’s a terrific day to be called good-looking, especially by his Quartermaster.

Summary
After the old Quartermaster is killed in the attack on MI6 Headquarters, a top secret project he had been working on under M's supervision is finally implemented. Q Branch shuts down for a week, and reopens almost fully automated, run by the A.I. known as Q. Needless to say, when James Bond returns from the dead, he has some difficulties adjusting to the new system. But he and Q will have to work together if they hope to catch the cyberterrorist attacker.

Creepy manipulation and subversion of self

Summary
Title says it all. This started as a personal challenge, to write a scene that captured the pace, tension and even humour of a memorable action sequence just like in the movies.
The result was "ETA 8 minutes...". And thanks to everyone who like and commented on it - I was encouraged enough to think I could write an entire story along with context to go with it. Might have bit off more than I can chew :). Hopefully I'll do the story justice.
