February 2023 - Logan’s London Apartment
Logan stares down at the letter that had been sitting on his coffee table. The bright blue of the Williams logo stares back at him filling him with a childish sort of happiness. He’d just recently been confirmed to be driving with them for this upcoming season, something Logan had found himself dreaming of since he was a boy stuck in karts.
The room is filled with a comforting silence as he finds himself unable to tear his eyes away from the letter. What could the contents be? He huffs softly as he reaches forward, shaking his head at his own ridiculousness. With shaking fingers Logan eagerly rips the letter open, his eyes scanning down the contents as his tail flicks happily behind him.

Logan is beaming, his smile wide, a bounce in his step as he talks about how special Silverstone is to him, and thanked Red Bull for giving him a second chance to prove himself. Max threw caution to the wind when Logan turned to him, champagne dripping from his face, and smiled this bright, infectious, earth-shattering smile at him. The bottle of champagne slipped from Max’s hand, forgotten, as he pulled Logan into a hug.
“I’m so proud of you, Liefje,” he whispered, pressing his nose to the line of Logan’s jaw, trying and failing, to make it look platonic for the cameras.****

Oscar was the one who saw it first. He wondered if that was part of why he'd come. A desperation to hold onto Logan just like how Logan needed to cling to Oscar.
Logan had known it was coming. It had been obvious for months. If it was obvious to the fans (and Logan had seen the fan comments and theories) then it was even more obvious from the inside. Pretty much the last person that Logan wanted to run into while walking through the paddock alone was James Vowles, so of course his luck would dictate that that would happen.
He'd gotten lucky so far in avoiding anything Williams, so really, he didn't know why he expected anything other than being forced to confront a man he hadn't spoken to in nearly a year.
James was talking to some reporter — probably Will fucking Buxton if Logan's eyes were reliable — with that typical serious condescending look of his. Unfortunately, they were just kind of in the middle of the path with their microphones and their cameras. Logan would have to pass by in the background if he wanted to make it to McLaren.

He'd pretty much given up on painkillers. Acetaminophen had never worked for him and ibuprofen had quickly lost effectiveness, so when he found himself popping more than the recommended safe amount, he gave up on it. It really wasn't cutting it anyway and he couldn't afford to fuck up his liver as an athlete.
There was the standard general soreness that really never went away even after he'd stopped growing. But sometimes things just… got worse. After a race his wrists would hurt for hours. It always felt like they'd been wrenched but that didn't make sense. No amount of strength training he did did anything to help. Sometimes he just woke up wrong and his joints would just be agonizing. It felt like someone had shoved a sheet of metal in the joint. It burned and throbbed and felt like things were out of place even when they weren't. Sometimes it made sense, like after he did a particularly tough race, but other times it just… hit him. He couldn't explain it.
