Akechi knows that he’s not supposed to be able to hear Morgana. Maintaining the illusion of ignorance is vital if he wants to gain Akira’s trust and guarantee his death. It’s just a shame that Morgana insists on testing his patience during every interaction. The amount of insults he’s had to endure with a straight face is ridiculous. Still, he tells himself that he just has to curb his indignation until November. Then his plan will culminate in the assassination of the Phantom Thieves’ leader. With Akira gone, Shido will win the election - and Akechi’s moment for revenge will arrive.
He’s so close to victory that he can taste it in the back of his throat. If the biggest obstacle to his success is a talking cat, then he’s gotten pretty lucky.
Unfortunately, he underestimates just how much of a roadblock Akira himself will turn out to be.

It strikes him as egregious that a sucker punch is their first move in an interrogation, but maybe it proves something. Maybe it proves just how little Ren’s welfare matters in all this, how far they’ll go right from the jump.
The detective barks something at him, and Ren tries to focus past the alarm in his head. His intonation tells him that the guy asked a question and, in true Joker form, Ren responds with a question of his own.
“When’s the good cop getting here?”

“Alright, alright. We’ll help you by braking and entering,” Grian agrees, trying to force his chuckles down. He knows Scar won’t even notice the way he originally misspoke the word, and neither Mumbo or Grian will point it out to him.
“I assume there’s something you want us to keep our eyes peeled for?” Mumbo inquires.
“If you can find any sort of official documentation, that’d be amayzin’,” Scar answers. “Or maybe just anything related to illegal business practices. The sooner I can get these guys busted and in the hands of Xisuma, the better.”

Summary
After years of torture and pain, Grian finally escapes the clutches of the Watchers. He crash lands on a strange server, injured and panicked. But the players are hunting him, and he’s too weak to fight back. He resigns himself to a life of running and hiding.
Scar is a little mesmerized by the stranger that had forced its way onto Hermitcraft. Everyone seems convinced it’s hostile, but the few interactions Scar’s had with it seem to say otherwise. Maybe it just needs a friend?
_______OR these two traumatized idiots fall not so slowly in love while trying to recover from their messy pasts. But pasts aren’t something you can just run away from, especially in their cases.
There’s other relationships explored as well, but my Scarian heart has to make these two the center of the story.
