Sometimes, the road to happily ever after is straightforward. You fall in love, get married, start a family, et voilà, as the French say.
For Steve Rogers that road took a few unexpected turns. But that’s okay, because he found his wonderful daughter Sarah along the way. Being a single dad isn’t exactly easy, but they’ll always have each other, and that’s more than Steve could have asked for. So when Steve decides to go back to law school in the hopes of securing a better job and giving Sarah the education she deserves, finding love is the last thing on his mind. But then, he didn’t exactly expect to be taught by someone quite like professor Barnes.
Bucky Barnes is charming, driven, and maybe a little lonely. But that’s okay; Bucky is used to going it alone. He loves his work and his colleagues, and that’s enough, even if he sometimes wishes he had a family to come home to at the end of the day. But then Steve Rogers walks into his classroom – handsome, kind and very much a family man – and suddenly, Bucky thinks he might want more after all.
As it turns out, the road to happily ever after doesn’t always have to be straightforward.

And okay, dude is hot like burnin', but Bucky just doesn't have the time or patience for soothing the wounded ego of some gymrat wannabe with an obsession for dressing like he's hiding from the mob and .... why are you laughing, Sam?

"Them even numbers are just bad luck all around," Pooch always said, and boy, was he right. The trouble starts with just one passenger (even though they don't take passengers, what with the smuggling and the piracy and all)—but what's in his crate, and what are the Loser's crew going to do when the full force of MAX comes down on them, and on Jolene and on Jensen's family, back in New Springfield?
This is an AU set in a Firefly-like universe, in which the Losers are Space Pirates and MAX is a huge corporation with a stranglehold grip on most of the known planets, moons and space stations—especially in the Core. MAX once meant 'Manned Automated Xenoships'—the Generation Ships that brought waves of settlers from dying Earth-that-was, so long ago no one even remembers what MAX stands for anymore; it's just something to be feared.
I realize the tags look a bit grim, but there's a reasonably happy ending, definitely no major character death, and Roque and Aisha don't betray the Losers in this story.- Language:
