Vortex has crunched up and spat out another pilot (again), and First Aid has gone in to retrieve them (again). Only this time, Vortex doesn't seem to be keen to let him go...
With the Quintesson threat looming, they can't take any chances. If only the AI would quit going so rogue.AKA the one where Jazz just can't stay dead, Swindle is haunted by (literal) ghosts, and nobody is making the healthy choice.

If slightly fucked up mecha pilot stories are your thing, you'll love this.
That is not to say that the main leads being freaks is the end of it, oh no. This story will make you feel things. The chapters aren't told in an entirely chronological order and some of the chapters in the past, when things just started to get bad, will take you out back and make you face the wall. Especially knowing where the characters will end up. I've cried real tears over this.
At some of these points the writing really stood out. Most of the fic is well-written in a way where youre so lost in the sauce that you don't really notice it but then you get hit with a piece of dialogue or a cleverly worded sentence that makes you stop just to marvel at it.
The story itself starts somewhat simple and chapter by chapter more moving parts get revealed. Characters chasing their own goals, worldbuilding, past events that put everything into a new perspective, all that. It was insanely engaging.
Totally recommend giving this a try! (Personally, i cannot wait for the next chapter)

"It doesn't matter what I want," Optimus replies, ignoring the freezing ice creeping closer to his spark.
"And it doesn't matter what I want, either?" Megatron snarls at him.
"This isn't about us!" Optimus says, louder than intended. He berates himself for losing his composure when Megatron's lips curl into a smirk. "I am willing to do anything to keep Cybertron safe."
"Safe from me, you mean," Megatron says, gesturing towards the dark halls of the Nemesis outside of Optimus' prison cell.
"Yes.”
An arranged bond is a dangerous, loveless union in which one's death can have catastrophic consequences for the other. It's a trap with no way out.
It's also Optimus' only chance to end the war, so he proposes a deal Megatron is unable to refuse.

Summary
End of the war comes as a big surprise. Not necessarily a bad surprise, and the war has “ended” before, but that was only in the sense of one side winning, not in the sense of both sides reaching an actual peace. The peace is good, but it’s not great realizing that for everyone involved—you included—somewhere along the way you stopped thinking of the war as something that would ever really stop.
Still. All for the best. And the whole mess involved in wrapping this thing up and making (some) steps to reintegrate Autobot and Decepticon society is enough to keep everyone running. Even if hostilities are technically over, every medic you know is overclocking their frames trying to keep up with their patients. There’s a nice dose of casualties from that last clash, plus plenty of misunderstandings that keep escalating into violence. You’d hoped to sink back into the background and just get on with doing your job, but somebody had to go spread the word that hey, this is Ratchet, you know, the medic who served with Optimus Prime, and that clever move means that you haven’t gotten a full night of recharge in longer than you care to remember.

Summary
Defeated and dragged back to the world he called home in chains, Megatron can do no more than endure. A rescue from Cybertron itself is almost impossible; he is forced to face the possibility that the Decepticon cause is lost, and that he will end his days as an Autobot experimental subject.
Optimus's hero's welcome is shortlived. Deemed too radical and ousted from the position of Magnus on a technicality, he struggles to keep those he cares about safe from the Council's manipulations and Sentinel Prime's ambition, a struggle that will cost him more than he believed possible.
General Strika contemplates a future without her leader, and finds it bleak. If the General of Destruction is to pull the Decepticon Cause's skidplate out of the scrappile, she's going to have to do a lot of thinking outside the box.
Ratchet learns the true uses to which his research has been put, and begins to wonder if the Decepticons had the right idea. When the extents to which Optimus has been forced come to light, Ratchet makes the decision that might save them all or damn him further.
