Summary
Danny's death was something he had no choice but to think about.
Having a portal to the afterlife open on top of you at age 14, both killing you and bringing you back to life was hard to ignore. He died and came back weird, with a pounding headache and an ache in his chest.
After getting caught by his parents and getting cut open the summer before college, Danny flees to Gotham.
No idea of what or who is waiting for him there. Or what will follow him to Gotham.
Jason was 15 and running around as the second Robin. His death was on the same day that a portal in an Amity Park basement opened, killed by being beaten by the Joker and left to die in an explosion. He came back 6 months later, mindless and wrong.
Later, he'd get back his mind, but the pits still swirled in his chest.
Now the Red Hood at 19, Jason feels like something's coming, something dangerous.
The pits shift at the thought.

Summary
Is it running from your problems if your problems consider you to be a dead imprint of consciousness that killed their son? Yes, but Danny tries not to think about how his nightmares of his parents trying to kill him came true when they found out he was Phantom.
After being on the run from his parents and the government for a couple of months, moving from town to town, Danny ends up in Gotham City and decides to risk staying in Batman's territory. He'd take the wrath of Batman over live vivisection via beloved parents or being studied and torn apart by the government. Besides, he's not a meta. Being dead is a medical condition.

After the explosion at Nasty Burger, Danny abandons his home dimension in his grief, with Vlad's help. They work together to ensure that the ghosts of the Infinite Realms have no access to that dimension, and thus protect them from the danger the GIW poses.
However, this does not abate Danny's grief, nor his fears. What if he loses himself in his grief and anger and loss, and it twists him and turns him into another Pariah Dark? What if he ends up hurting the Infinite Realms?
So, he leaves.

“You’re not the birdy I’m looking for.” The man’s grin fades as he takes in the scene, slumping out of his triumphant stance with a disgruntled moan.
“I’m sorry, Duke, I’m gonna have to call you back. A clown just kicked my door down. For some reason,” Danny says into his phone, before hanging up and dropping it onto the counter next to him, despite Duke’s protests. He’s starting to get the impression that this isn’t the lighthearted joke he thought it was. He turns his attention towards the clown. “And you’re not the pizza delivery boy. Or, at least, I hope you’re not. Won’t be ordering from them again if you are.”When Danny finds a box just outside of his brand new Gotham apartment, he thinks nothing of it... until he opens it up to find a crushed taxidermy bird inside and a weird note signed only by a J. It's funny how things work out that way.

Midoriya Izuku has always been written off as weird. As if it's not bad enough to be the quirkless weakling, he has to be the weird quirkless weakling on top of it.
But truthfully, the "weird" part is the only part that's accurate. He's determined not to be a weakling, and in spite of what it says on paper, he's not actually quirkless. Even before meeting All-Might and taking on the power of One For All, Izuku isn't quirkless.
Not that anyone would believe it if he told them.
