Even if Sheriff was a machine, he was conscious enough to form an identity, one that was easily recognizable by Neon Vanguard. When he vanishes for several days — last seen in the city during an investigation — Sheriff mysteriously returns without any explanation. Everything on the outside looks normal, but the rebel is convinced that something foreign is lurking inside of the android.

Summary
Ganji Gupta and William Ellis have known (but rarely talked to) each other since middle school. Starting their lives at Oletus University, they both pursue their beloved sports.
Ganji thinks that love and relationships are a waste of time. He wasn’t that big of a “people person” to begin with— his protective mom restricted him of his ability to properly talk to others, so that no one could ever hurt him.
Cricket is the only thing that matters to him. He loves the thrill, the adrenaline, the satisfaction that follows every swing of his arm, the connection between the ball and bat. Love cannot produce this same feeling.
William visits the cricket player at every practice. He’s just as busy with rugby, but always finds time to stop by and stalk Ganji when he’s on the field. The forward bugs him about going to hang out, until the batter obliges and gives him a chance to talk.
Rugby and cricket can’t both be the best sports. There can only be one.
And god, if William wanted to play with him so badly, Ganji would have to try harder.

Lava Cake successfully escapes Candy-Land and enters the real world, losing consciousness in the middle of a vast, snowy forest. Speed Skating finds him and wants to help him, but every touch causes him to melt. To melt means to be hurt; to be hurt means to slowly die.
Speed Skating was willing to die if it meant it was in Lava Cake’s arms.
Lava Cake refuses to get anywhere near Speed Skating in fear of hurting him.
Like two magnetic forces with opposite polarities, they can’t help but be naturally attracted to one another.

Summary
Metropolis is ridden with a fungal apocalypse. A once glorious city, it had been reduced into nothing but ruins.
An Abyss with a mind of its own lures its victims in with the promise of fulfilling their hopes and dreams, before completely engulfing their bodies.
Sheriff is left to stay in Metropolis and search the area for people, or clues as to what caused this infection in the first place. He sees someone he never expected to encounter.
