Summary
The first three stories in this series were written in the late 1990s and have been archived since then at Sacrilege!, a Holmes slash archive maintained by Cress/Miss Roylott. "The Adventure of Downton Abbey" was written in March of 2013; it stands alone, but it is also a kind of coda to the earlier three stories, and includes some references to them. Each can be read as a stand-alone story, though there is continuity. Whether you've already read them or are finding them for the first time now, I hope y'all enjoy.

Summary
Also cross-posted from Sacrilege!, where it has been for years. This is a sequel to "Absurdly Simple" but it can also be read as a stand-alone story. It is exactly the same except for the fact that I have more clearly marked the changes in narration, which became even more confusing once the chapter divisions disappeared.
Irene Adler is back in London and has returned to the stage, starring in Oscar Wilde's play An Ideal Husband. Violet Hunter ("Copper Beeches") is in London, working as a governess for an aristocratic and dysfunctional family. Holmes, Watson, and Violet are all in the audience on opening night; and they are soon all embroiled in an intrigue involving Irene Adler, Godfrey Norton, Violet's employers, and a diamond brooch in the shape of a snake. Watson and Violet Hunter take turns narrating a story chock full of double-crossing, cross-dressing, and Oscar Wilde.

A modern-day re-imagining of A Scandal in Bohemia with a few alterations, deeper character explorations, and the inclusion of that guy that Irene Adler married at the end of the story whom everyone seems to forget.
In which Irene causes trouble (or may be in trouble), plans a wedding, and routinely steals men's clothing, all while evading her paranoid ex-boyfriend. Sherlock is reviled by emotions and love, but especially the notion that he might not be immune to either. Godfrey is the unknowing cause of this whole mess, Mycroft is Mycroft, and John knows that, in the end, it's all fine.
Definitely an AU from s2e01 of Sherlock.
