Summary
A ninja is supposed to be cold, unfeeling, and able to get any job done without attachments. Splinter knew that, and that is how he tried to raise his sons. He didn't believe that they should have the emotions that he, himself, saw as a weakness.
Every time they did something out of his control, he would punish them. Even from a young age, the turtles knew better than to smile, laugh, or speak out of line.
What happens when they meet two humans that are trying to help them get out of that? What if Splinter finds out?

Those Old Days Again is a one-shot styled book, except that it works similarly to another season of Rise, full of original stories for each chapter, along with a few deleted scenes turned episodes (or chapters in this case)! We even get to include some lovely queer and neurodivergent moments in this book because there's no big corporate company stopping us >:D

Leo loved his brothers. Really, he did. He just wished they'd show him at least a little bit of respect or trust. The slider already guessed that he was Dad's least favorite, and it felt like his brothers just couldn't let him have any sort of reassurance that he was as good as his brothers.
Raph or Dad once told him it was because they knew he could be much more. It left a bitter taste in the slider's mouth.
Why couldn't someone love Leo for who he was now?

It was over now. He'd fled. He no longer had to worry about the unwanted future he was given at birth. No longer had to live in fear of his throat being sliced open by claws at any moment. And no longer had to be judged for who he loved.
He meets a mutant turtle named Leo one day, the two quickly falling in love soon after. They're happy with each other, and don't care what their families would think of them.
However, not long after a being called "The Shredder" is awakened, there are signs that his past is finally beginning to catch up with him. ...and it threatens the one Ebony loves the most.
