Her older brother ran away when she was 10 & has been staying with their paternal Uncle since then. After a public breakdown just after her junior year at her girls academy Ozai disowned and abandoned her. Now reluctantly staying with her Uncle and avoiding Zuko she is put into a group therapeutical program for the summer ran by her new high school. There she meets other students participating in the same program. Now Azula is being forced to confront what led to her breakdown and everything before and in between.

He must be surprised that Zuko is coherent enough to say anything at all and he leans forward to fully capture the rest of Zuko's slurred words. "... trying to hit on me while I'm bleeding out on your carpet?"
The man gives him a bewildered look. "... I have hardwood floors. That's a towel."

Zuko lay in his bed, unable to go back to sleep. He has had yet another nightmare about Azula hitting him with lighting. And whenever his dream self got hurt, his physical body recoiled as if he had gotten hit again. He could feel the scarred tissue pulsing from pain.
