Summary
When the conflict between Skyblock and the Antarctic Empire had dragged on long enough without showing any sign of either nation being defeated, a truce was struck. Skyblock agreed to stop its assaults and negotiate a peace treaty, and in return, the empire would do the same. To show goodwill, Skyblock would even go so far as to hand over its most competent general as a prisoner of war. That way, the Antarctic Empire would know the lengths they were willing to go to for a proper resolution.
Such were the circumstances that led to Phil taking custody of Technoblade: skilled warrior, revered tactician, and current political hostage.

There are a lot of pitfalls to being a Nether hybrid in the Overworld— there are far more to be found when you live in the tundra. Techno was careful— meticulous, one could say.

Summary
It's a simple life, living with vampires as a source of fresh blood. For Techno, it's practically the family trade, or as close as being trained and then sent off to be a feeder can be. He can always be certain that the coven he's serving will take care of him. Most humans don't have that, so he's grateful.
Philza and his coven are more of the same in a long line of vampires needing a blood source for injuries or illnesses. Techno is happy to provide. And if he's almost close enough to touch the fondness and love within the coven... he's grateful.

Techno has been a vampire feeder nearly his whole life. Phil reluctantly purchases his services for a short term stay. Things get better and worse, depending on the viewpoint.

Summary
Battlefields are a bit like games. A certain number of humans up against another bunch on the other side. Perhaps some strategy will sway it, but in the end, it's all a number's game. Who will live and die.
Technoblade is not a human, because humans couldn't survive the things he does. They can't survive being touched by the Gods, gifted things by them. Phil, Wilbur, and Tommy are the same. They're all special things, meant to be used as the Gods' will for the war.
The problem is that Phil, Wilbur, and Tommy never got that. Techno tried to help them learn, but they never did. And in the end, that's what bit him. It was worse than death.
