Kim didn't look much more thrilled to be here. "Is it safe to talk here?"
Porsche rolled his eyes. "It's my bedroom. I don't let them put bugs or cameras in here. If that's what you mean."
"I'm not sure if that's what I mean," Kim said, shifting uneasily. "Maybe what I mean is... can I talk to you, and not have you go immediately tell Vegas or anyone else?"
The idea that Vegas would pay attention to anything Porsche said was a joke. "I think you're safe from that, at least," he said, pulling off his jacket and tossing it over the back of a nearby chair. "What's going on?"
Kim ran his hands over his face. "I think I know who killed my father." He sounded terribly young for a moment, a crack appearing in his usual calm and composed façade.
Porsche went very still and very cold. "Everyone knows that," he said, doing everything in his power to keep his voice steady.
"No," Kim said, "they don't. They only think they know."

Kim and Porsche have to work together to solve the mystery of their respective fathers' deaths, and reconnect with one another during the investigation.

Summary
People almost never asked Wen Ning about his death, or what his 'life' was like now, or what happened to him during the thirteen years Wei Wuxian was dead - that long blank space in his undead existence. That included Wei Wuxian, who had asked a few questions initially, but had clearly not wanted to delve into it too deeply. Wen Ning was alternately grateful for their unwillingness to pry, and a little annoyed by it, even when it was Wei Wuxian avoiding the issue. He was actually capable of being annoyed at Wei Wuxian, and he took that ability, among many things, as a sign that he had free will.

Gongyi Xiao's blood ran cold. He was being held captive by a demon, and he had... died? And been brought back to life using some sort of demonic energy? The thought frightened him, more than the idea of dying itself.
