“Goddamnit! Fucking HYDRA!” Tony shouts.
Steve can relate. “Was he…?” He keeps his tone soft, doesn’t push. When Tony meets Steve’s gaze again the wrath of God is behind those eyes.
“They burned off his collar,” Tony says, walking closer to Steve, within touching distance but not touching. He looks like the words make him want to puke, and Tony touches his own collar with shaking fingers. Steve’s not even sure the gesture is conscious. What he does know is that he now has even more incentive to root out every HYDRA unit that might still be in existence, not only to get justice for Bucky and finish what they started. There’s a deep, dark part of Steve’s soul that insists no one gets to make Tony look afraid like that, hesitant like that, and live. His instincts want nothing more than to protect these two submissives, and Steve has no idea how to do it. But he starts with a hug.

He uses that free hand to pull the smoke away, and he drops it off the edge of the Tower and Clint almost wants to laugh.
‘Sorry.’ It’s clumsily signed, like he just learned it. “I said,” Bucky goes on, a sedate pace and he’s got good lips—full and expressive, “sucks, doesn’t it?”
“What?” Clint asks.
Bucky just laughs and shrugs, and Clint has a feeling he means all of it. So, he nods. For the first time he feels like he’s telling the truth.

"GERONIMO!" Clint screams, launching himself across the gap, and barely clips the other beam with his toe before plummeting.
"I got you, I got you!" Bucky leaps up to catch him and they both hit the ground, laughing hysterically. They end up with Clint sprawled half on top, and he's about to collapse his head on Bucky's chest when he remembers.
Clint tries not to nudge anyone about their consent settings, because he's worried about pressuring people, but the confusion and tinge of hurt he sees when he scrambles away makes him remind Bucky, "You have your casual touch setting off for everyone except Steve."

The stranger pauses to listen to a hidden earpiece. “Yeah. No. Faster. Guy’s more glass than ass, here.” Brooklyn accent.
“Actually,” Clint wheezes, “Most of it’s…” he draws in a shallow breath, “in my head.”
