    Time nearly dropped the phone.

    ”Warriors?”

    Despite eight years of radio silence, he recognized his younger brother’s voice. He used to sound just like that when he told off other kids on the playground for being unfair by not letting him take a turn on the swings.

    "Nothing is wrong," Warriors said firmly. "My younger brother was exaggerating. I apologize for bothering you. Good night."

    "Wait-"

    Time hasn't heard from his little brothers since their dad kicked him out on his eighteenth birthday. But when he gets a panicked phone call from a kid claiming to be his third brother and learns some very worrying things, not even Warriors' promises can stop him from getting involved.
    But when Time shows up to confront their father, he's long gone.
    With Legend painfully defensive at every turn, Warriors in deep denial about their abandonment, and Hyrule, a new baby brother he never even knew existed, Time's life is about to take a difficult turn. He's not at all prepared for taking care of three kids, and is haunted by guilt from the past and anxiety for the future.
    But no matter what troubles they bring, Time will never abandon his brothers the way their father did.

    Legend looked at the small island and winced. There would be no escaping the sound of the waves or the call of the gulls. There would be no forfeiting the sand for grass or sunshine for clouds. The palms swayed in the breeze and Legend wished they were apple trees more than anything. He prayed there were no hibiscuses on this island. The flowers always seemed to break through his defenses. This was not the rest he had been hoping for when stepping through that portal.

    Legend doesn't take to being stuck on an island too well. Luckily he gets some help from his brothers.

    Just shove some more trauma into the man, no biggie.

    Wild stiffened uncomfortably, Hyrule looked a little confused, Wind puffed out his chest like he was preparing for an insult, Four looked tired, and Time squinted his eye like he was calculating something.

    The only people to not visibly act weird were Sky, Twilight, and Legend.

His fingers continue to card through the knots to the best of his ability but soon enough one particular snag holds him up. He puts the brush on the ground next to him, using the now-free hand to aid in pulling at the knot. It gives him a closer look, eyes widening at the sight. “Is that a fucking stick?”

    Hyrule tips his head back into the veteran’s hands, bringing up his own to sign, “For safekeeping.”

    “Why on earth would you need a stick for safekeeping?” Legend questions.

    The traveller’s face is completely serious when he replies, “For the birds.”

    Legend wouldn’t lose them like others might as he understood the pain of trying to track them back down as well as just how much damage the two of them could cause. Individually they could be difficult, but together? It was if they both fed off the other’s curious energy, running off at the first sight of anything that moved or sparkled. Twilight knew this, but more than that Legend did. Wild would be perfectly fine with him.

    Except he wasn’t with Legend.

    Because Legend was currently walking alone through the crowd on the opposite side of the market.
