“Peter, could you tell me about what’s going on in that head of yours?” Sam tries to distract from the stitches, from the necessary work, that would allow the wound to heal. But he also needed to know what had happened, why it had happened, how he could help, how he could prevent it from happening again. “I can see the gears ticking in there. What has you so wound up?”
“I-“ Peter stops himself. Sam watches carefully as Peter takes a deep breath, giving the kid space to center himself, to calm himself. “I… I didn’t mean to,” Peter stammers out, eyes still glued to the floor, “I just, but then… I-“Then the first sob echoes from him, and tears stream down his cheeks, leaving wet trails behind. “Please, I… don’t tell dad… don’t tell Tony I-“
“Hey, hey” Sam snaps his fingers in front of Peter’s face, attempting to get him to look up at him. Meeting him at Peter’s level. “You did nothing wrong, okay? You’re okay. No one blames you for this, it’s okay. You are safe here. Alright?”

“Specialist Clint Barton.” Peggy supplied while the two privates left the tent. “His unit was just lost. Barton was their sniper so he was at a safe enough distance to....not get hit with any blast. He made it through a lot of enemy territory to get to us.” She was hard to impress but here she was, impressed to spite herself. Steve could hear it in her voice and see it on her face. He didn’t think the kid understood what that meant.“Kid -” he started.
“None of us are kids anymore, Cap. And I’m not your son either so please don’t call me that. I’m not anyone’s son.” He had a faraway look in his eyes when he said it but then he met Steve’s eyes and gave him an assessing glance from head to toe and followed it up with a smirk, “besides, you can’t be more’n a few years older than me - definitely not old enough for me to call you Daddy.” Then he fluttered his eyelashes in mock innocence.

You okay?” He glanced over at Clint from the pilot seat. He’d been getting increasingly quieter as they flew over the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. Luckily they’d kept a quinjet in Wakanda so no one had to come get them. It meant that they got to avoid an awkward airport runway reintroduction to two guys that Clint had tried to kill, a former Army buddy from World War 2 and a science genius who turned into a rage monster.“No. But I think that’s okay. This shouldn’t be easy.” Clint’s voice was quiet in a way that Steve was still getting used to, or maybe he was resisting getting used to because he was still waiting to hear the old Clint. Which wasn’t fair of him. Clint shouldn’t be trying to live up to an old version of himself because that was what Steve needed. Or maybe it’s quiet because Clint had resigned himself to his life just not being easy. Which Steve could understand. Even if Clint couldn’t remember his life before Hydra, it had to have left some fingerprint, like a muscle memory for his life just always being a goddamn battle that he never got to win.

Peter is the victim of sexual assault whilst attending a party. Set after homecoming but the timline is a little messy anyway. Civil war happened but everyone is friends now. Also I suck at summaries.
TW: This story is based around recovery from sexual assault. Whilst there is no graphic descriptions of assault there is realistic depictions of depression and PTSD and discussion around STDs, therapy and the feelings experienced after experiencing this kind of trauma. I do not want anyone to be triggered by this so please be careful when reading and remember that your mental health is important. Stay safe.

It's only hate from the God he believed in. The one he believed in so much.
Or Peter commits suicide and fails. Was it just him or was he failing often?
