It's really quite simple. There are four couples, right? And they're spread out through three cities across the US. Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Chicago. In each couple, one of the partner is a Navy SEAL. The other half is a First Responder. But so is the Navy SEAL. We have four firefighters, three detectives, and Steve. Are you keeping track? Did you remember to carry the one?
It's hard to keep it straight, especially when none of them are straight. But that's okay, because they have each other for support.

Summary
Buck works as a support submissive, a re-entry resource for dominants who get released from prison. Support subs live with their dominants and cook and clean and generally service their dominants to help them re-acclimate to society.
Buck is good at his job, so he usually gets assigned to higher risk cases. He’s had absolutely no problem staying professional.
He’s sure that Eddie Diaz, convicted murderer, is going to be absolutely no different.

And, here, looking at his best friend, he can see that something’s broken inside him, too. And, maybe it’s the therapy he’s had over the years, his sessions with Frank, but Eddie wants to talk to Buck. He wants Buck to talk to him. Buck, who just looks so fucking sad, still in his dress blues, one hand drinking the beer, the other coming up to loosen his tie.
This morning, Eddie had noticed Buck tying, untying, retying the tie with breaths of frustration, fingers shaking. “Eddie,” he’d said lowly from across the room, and Eddie wouldn’t have even heard him if he hadn’t been watching. “I, uh, can never – I can never get this right.”

Summary
“I’ll do whatever you want, just, please.” Buck sobs out the last word, eyes burning with unshed tears.
“A vow.” The man leans uncomfortably close to Buck. The knife brushes against his neck, lightly scratching across the top layer of Buck’s skin. The man’s cold blue eyes hold Buck’s full attention. “That’s what I require. Sell me your allegiance.”
Buck stares back at the killer, unable to fully process what is being asked of him. He sees a flash of anger dance in the stranger’s gaze. He's impatient. Unpredictable. Fear pours into Buck's chest as he realizes he might not get a second chance at this. He has to make this count. “I vow to give you complete control over the remainder of my life. My body is yours to destroy—so long as you let my sister live and return safely to her family.”

Or, After Eddie leaves for Texas, Buck goes to seek comfort from his sister and walks in on her kidnapping. In order to save Maddie's life, Buck offers up his instead. Unintentionally agreeing to something worse than death.
