Summary
sometimes u start writin a fic and ur like 'yeah !! this will be chill and easy and comprehensible..' and then u look at canon and u write a bunch based off of that . and then its two months later and u look at canon again . and u go '.. well . oh goodness . oh no .'
so with this ^in mind , i will try to stay as true as i can to peoples backstories , federation business , etc ! at the end of the day i am trying to make lore for a developing source material , so stuff here may end up being different/contradicting actual canon ! please proceed with that in mind[EDIT as of 15/05/24 : source material is no longer developing i guess , so i might try and tie up some stuff my own way ._. ]

When Philza is captured and planned to be used as blackmail, Technoblade struggles to not give into their demands. There’s a search party out there, looking for him as Techno is confined to the empire walls as the sole emperor. They’ll find him in time, right? Philza is tough; he can take care of himself, right?

Phil tugged on the straps of his backpack, bouncing on his toes. “Five second head start, no weapons, no boats or gliders.”
Etoiles nodded fervently, adjusting the wrist-straps on his gloves. They were standing outside Phil’s house, the axolotls splashing in their pond behind them. Their eggs were both still in the hospital, and Fit had jokingly made the suggestion that they run around to blow off steam, and both of them had decided that that didn’t sound like a bad idea, actually. It was better than yoga, at least.
Etoiles was ready to do this. He was ready to run, to chase down his quarry over broken ground. He grinned at Phil. “I will give you five seconds to run, and then I chase you, and you will try to get away.”

Technoblade, who had just explained how the job he’d taken wouldn’t affect Phil for more than a day and definitely hadn’t suggested his client come along, paused in surprise. He had his sword laid across his lap, an oiled cloth in his hands to coat it against rust and corrosion; Phil sat across the chamber in front of a scuffed, tarnished mirror.
“Bro, you’re paying me to escort you out of danger, not into it,” he said incredulously. Phil glanced over his shoulder and rolled his eyes like it was the experienced Witcher here being silly.

Wherein an evil cult tries to sacrifice a child Tommy to The Blood God...only for him to not be considered an orphan because of Philza's adoption. And since Technoblade OBVIOUSLY can't accept a sub-par sacrifice or his cultists will get lazy, he has no other option than to leave Tommy alive, protect him from the occasional sacrifice ritual, and raise him in a cult. Problem is, gods are shaped by how their worshipers view them, and suddenly Technoblade is forced to deal with someone who doesn't only see him as a monster to appease or control. It's a lot harder to be a callous god when giving piggyback rides, that's for sure.

He was wearing a boar-face mask with bloody tusks. One of the lenses over the eyes had shattered, the light from a streetlight catching on the spiderweb in the glass. The swordsman tilted his head at the hawk, clearing his throat. “Yeah?” he said.
It tucked its talons behind its back. “Good evening,” it said obediently. Speaking was always a risk, no one wanted a noisy hawk, but it could take an obvious hint.
The swordsman pointed the sword in its direction. “You work for The Brotherhood.” His voice was raspy.
He seemed to want an answer. The rain dripped out of the hawk’s hair. “Not anymore.”
“Oh.” The swordsman eyed it. The empty spots for weapons and gear at its belt, the scorch marks and slashes in its clothing, its meek stance. He cleared his throat again. “You ran?”
The hawk nodded.
“Heh.” The swordsman lowered the point of the sword. “Do y’wanna stick together?”

Techno parked his boots by the door and shrugged out of his coat, and then went to poke up the fire in the wood stove. It needed another log, he decided, dropping a piece of birch in there. By the door, Michael was tucking his chin in to resist having his hat untied.
“Aw, come on, Michael,” Phil coaxed. “I need to get to that, can you put your chin up for me?”
Michael signed “no”, shaking his head. He was grinning.
“Oh no,” Phil said, sitting back on his heels. “I guess the only thing for me to do is-- tickle you.” He darted forward.
“I’m puttin’ the kettle on,” Techno said, over Michael’s hoarse giggles. “Hot chocolate good?”
