The adventure ends very badly when Arthur accompanied by Merlin, Leon, Lancelot, Percival, Gwaine and Elyan goes on a new quest to kill a Serpentia: a giant snake that only kills people with noble blood in their veins. There's no way Gwaine is letting his friends get hurt if he can do anything about it but Merlin will do anything, even reveal his secret, to save his friend.

"I've survived worse." He brushed it off, leaning back in the chair. "Besides, Merlin won't be too happy with me if I let his favorite knight die."
Gwaine scoffed, "As much as I would love to take that title, I think Lancelot win's by a landslide."
"Then second—no third favorite knight then."
"Whose second?"
"Me of course," Elyan joked.
"Wouldn't doubt that, I've always been nothing but a burden and trouble to Merlin."
He grimaced at Gwaine's words. "Don't say that."
