With help from Noah, Y'shtola Rhul learns how to use the Aetheric State Player. She experiences part of the recording that Lauden Praud agreed to make for her, and finds the experience to be edifying. Edifying, and very, very arousing. Following a meaningful night with Cheria Haredottir and further discussion with Lauden, the mage decides to give the Warrior of Light the state player and the recording of Marielle Rontremont, in the hopes that it will fulfill a need that the Warrior of Light has felt since she came of age.
It turns out that the emotions contained in state recordings can linger after playback - a "stickiness" that will have long term consequences for both Lauden and Y'shtola.

It burned.It was like swallowing fire, molten lava, burning down his throat and into his belly. After several moments, it was still smoldering. As if he had eaten very hot porridge laced with jueyun chili's, coating everything it touched and retaining heat all the way down.
Excellent.
He would need to adjust the dosage, as it was a bit overpowering, but this was a decent starting point. He wrote down his findings thus far. Sweat gathered on his brow and he brushed it away, swallowing thickly.
The heat was spreading. More quickly than he projected.
Up, into his ribs and down into his crotch. He was getting hard. He frowned and noted this as well. He would have to figure out what was causing that particular reaction, and remove it from the formula. He ignored it and waited, writing each symptom down as they occurred, and keeping careful track of the time.
Soon his thighs were burning, and the heat raced to his fingertips and toes, passing straight from pleasant to heat-of-the-day-desert-sun in a matter of moments...
Surely he hadn't miscalculated this badly.

“Careful, you might get your wish,” Tony pointed out wryly, grabbing Bucky’s hand and moving fingers until the laser turned off. “I already put a flamethrower in there. Death-rays are entirely within the realm of possibility.”

“Hmm?” Kisuke hummed questioningly. “I think you’re going to need to be more specific there, love.”
“Yeah…” Ichigo muttered. He huffed out a sigh. “Um… You uh… you thought I was into Grimmjow…”
“Ah,” Kisuke mused, “That.” He was thankful that Ichigo couldn’t see his smirk from his current position as he asked innocently, “What about it?”
“Well…” Ichigo swallowed hard, trying desperately to ignore both his blush and Shiro’s triumphant cackling, and finally managed, “I think I might be…”

So, Yhwach tried to merge the worlds. He succeeded--at the cost of his own life--and promptly everyone who had died, ever, returned. The problem with that was, there were only so many souls in the reincarnation cycle at any given point. The rest of the revived were shuffling, blank meat suits without any pilot.
Or so they’d thought, right up until they found a pit full of bodies that weren’t coming right back up. Because the zombies were eating them. And they couldn’t die, couldn’t stay out of their bodies, only get shoved right back in with a less-than-stellar healing process, as they were devoured.
So yeah, zombies are eating people. Alive, screaming people trapped in the shredded bodies until consciousness fades and does not awaken, condemning them to true nothingness.
Kisuke thinks it’s Hell’s version of a joke. Or maybe an attempt to rebalance the overflow, or--
The point is, they have to fix it.
And, apparently, that's only one of the goddamn Symptoms.
