    Tale of Morro by

    Summary

    An in depth take on Morro’s emotional and physical journey from Wu’s student and foster child to the cursed ghost antagonist in Season 5, to the teasing and friendly ghost that peacefully returns to the Departed Realm in Day of the Departed.

    I always thought Morro’s arc was less of a redemption arc, where he feels bad for being a “bad guy” and tries to make up for what he did, and more of a healing arc. He was in a lot of pain and manipulated by the Preeminent and wrapped up in his revenge. His last moments in S5 show that all he needed in order to be able to let go and be at peace was to finally understand that Wu cared about him and to forgive his old teacher.

    That being said, Morro was not a misunderstood “good guy”. Being sad and hurt doesn’t give you the right to try to kill people.
    However, as we were told in Season 1, “the best way to defeat your enemy is to make them your friend”. Sometimes mercy is more effective than justice.
