Summary
The story does not truly start here.
No fairytales ever do– no, stories like these often begin in simpler places. Simpler stories, ones that belong to the people and not the kings. Stories that are told around campfires, told around the butter churn and whispered around hearths. Stories told to children as they’re tucked into bed, gentle warm hands soothing their brows and speaking with low tones as they relay the stories of grandeur and magic. Fairytales are often piled upon– one magic spell becomes two. A mother changes the prince’s name to her own dear son. Tommy was once told stories like these.

Alex Quackity: Look, Thomas Innit, or Tommy as he prefers to be called, killed Dream. This is not the question we are dealing with in this trial. We know where it happened, we know when it happened, we know he was the one who shot Dream point blank in the head. Those are all facts of this case. The question we are raising here is why it happened. The prosecution has suggested to you that it was done out of anger and hatred for the man who had been taking care of Tommy since he was 16. What we will prove to you however, is that it was done out of fear. You will hear evidence that when Tommy began living with Dream when he was 16, his life turned into a living hell. Tommy wasn't much of a fighter. Sure, he HAD to fight, but he tended to try to avoid it. Most people saw "human" and "rune worker" and thought he was either lying about his magick skills, or lying about his species. But Tommy was good at runes, despite the fact that Humans just... weren't good at Magick.
It's a useful skill to have, as the war against the Vampire Clans and their leader, the Ashen one, Angel of Death. The vampires are relentless, and the Magical collective is losing ground, they're hunting for something, and Tommy has a lot to protect back home.
He might just have no choice in the matter. Even if he doesn't want to fight, he might have to.I'm bad at summaries, this is a fantasy (kinda) vampire war fic. TommyInnit centric, featuring platonic soulmates, a whole host of familiar characters, and eventual SBI and BenchTrio (plus Purpled).

He's trying to speak but his throat is so dry and he feels his stomach swirling with nausea and his vision is blurring and— fuck. He's definitely going to pass out soon.
