Mac's pretty sure the only place Robert Joseph Maccready has ever been written down is on the note tucked into the basket his parents left him in.

"I...I can't believe it," she hid the shock in her voice and on her face as they stood in the room.
Her eyes were fixated on the blue crib in front of her. She never signed up for this; it was never part of the plan.
“I know!” the curled smile on his face was unsettling, the smile that was keeping a million secrets from her. “A baby, isn’t it great? Someone to carry on my legacy. He’s the luckiest boy in the world,” he sounded sickeningly happy, as if it was perfectly normal to have a baby thrusted into her arms.
"That he is," she smiled, the most fake sincere smile she could muster.
Nathaniel was always a little unhinged but this was madness.
She looked down at the tiny baby in her arms and tugged him closer to her chest.
Shaun. Said the embroidery on his blanket. Pre-named and pre-made.
She watched as his mouth opened just a tiny amount and he sighed out a silent yawn, his eyes opened for a split second and the sea of blue hit her. She had green eyes herself and she looked up to see Nathaniel’s hollow brown eyes look lovingly at her.

Summary
I was reading a fic that handles the Shaun relationship in a very interesting way and I thought, "God, imagine someone with my hyperspecific parental trauma being thrown into that situation." Then I remembered saying just like two days ago that Fallout 4 was a great vehicle for self-insert fic and thought, "Ha! Imagine if I actually wrote that! I could even fix the ending!"
Sixty thousand words later, it's a stream-of-consciousness mess, but it's certainly fun to write.

Nora pulled a book out at random. At A Minute’s Notice. The cover illustration was luridly suggestive, a sunset scene of two women in mostly-unbuttoned Minutemen uniforms grasping at each other’s shoulders on top of one of the crumbling walls of the Castle.
“Um, Curie, I think they did this at a joke. These are… not good study materials.”
“Non! Why would they do that? These books have been most helpful in my studies. They express such a wide variety of emotion. And the stories are so lovely. Mademoiselle Cait even has asked to borrow them!” -
