Summary
Kagome, mated to Inuyasha, suffers abuse she conceals out of fear and shame until Sesshomaru notices her injuries and resolves to protect her out of honor and friendship. Taking her to his fortress, Sesshomaru vows to ensure her safety and sever the mating bond with Inuyasha. He also rescues Shippo, Kagome’s adoptive child, from Inuyasha’s group. This prompts Inuyasha, Sango, and Miroku to pursue them to the fortress, culminating in a tense confrontation.
