Slowly, it opened its eyes, blinking sluggishly before sweeping its gaze from left to right. Its surroundings were muggy - the ‘blinding’ light was actually quite dim, so it couldn’t see much, but it could tell that it was in some sort of cellar. The floor and walls were made of a dark blue brick, much of which was either cracked or split by plantation of some form. Bits of machinery littered the area, and a plethora of folders, crates, and pouches of dilapidated materials were scattered in random places.

It felt like it should’ve known exactly where it was and exactly what it was supposed to do. A part of its mind was waiting for a task to fulfill or a role to embrace - but without either of those things, it was left with a persistent sensation of emptiness that gnawed at its chest and made it more anxious than it already was. Its whole world was off-kilter and it didn’t know why.

Now she's got fungus-ass school breathing down her neck, trying to force her to sit still and obey like some pure little flower.
The Council's spewing sanctimonious crap about "order" and "legacy" like their shit doesn't stink.
And some fancy-ass family adopts her-because of guilt, PR, or whatever self-righteous garbage lets them sleep at night-and expects her to just shut up, wear a pretty dress, and play fucking house.
