In his ear, Oracle shouted at him about healing. An eye for an eye, Skadi used Deadly Fury. Ren’s feet, clumsy with exhaustion and pain, struggled as he tried to trip back, tried to duck away, but in almost slow-motion a sharp force cleaved down towards him and he felt frozen.
And then, from his left, a bellow of “Joker!” and steel-toed boots kicking him aside with a leap, sending him sprawling on the casino floor.
He heard Panther scream and Ryuji make a pained noise that cut off in a breathy choke, but he didn’t see it actually happen. All he knew was that when he turned back to look, Ryuji was on the floor, motionless.
Protect: Chance to shield Joker from an otherwise fatal attack.

Summary
Maruki's palace was weird but this was just taking the fucking cake. Something must have happened during the last fight. Something? What could do this though? Ren found himself on one side of a wall that hadn’t been there moments before. He had either been moved by whatever reality altering Maruki was capable of or the layout of the palace had shifted greatly. None of that seemed to matter though because instead of a full arsenal of persona, including ones that could heal him, his heart was now filled with the smoldering heat of just one.
Loki seemed pleased with this change though.
Ren is separated from Akechi in Maruki’s palace and Loki has ideas about how to occupy their time.

“Oh, but you did.” Goro’s tone was honey coated poison, “I was your trump card, the ace in the hole you could pull out at just the right time to force him to accept your perfect little world.” He gave a derisive snort, “You went so far as to actually kidnap me when I wouldn’t disappear on cue.”

Dr. Maruki shows up to tell Akira about Akechi’s condition much earlier. When both refuse to accept his reality he decides to take more drastic actions to remove Akechi from the equation. For, how could Akira really accept his world if he doesn’t understand what he’ll be giving up?

Panther’s screech pierced through the fog in Joker’s mind, jerking him to attention just in time for the shadow - a lone Leanan Sidhe, he recalls absently - to dissolve into the dark puddles that line the edges of the Metaverse.
Headache receding and vision returning, he glanced to the left to see a wide-eyed Panther scanning the battlefield and stowing her whip. The firm weight of a gloved hand on his shoulder quickly called his attention behind him, the surprise not quite registering through the mist.
“Joker? Are you alright?”

Summary
Ren’s life revolves around three main things: getting through college, balancing two-and-a-half jobs, and ensuring that Akechi doesn’t disappear off the face of the earth again. Despite the mundanity, Ren finds himself in the middle of a new mystery as he stumbles upon an unknown entity within Mementos. Meanwhile, Akechi grows suspicious of Ren’s new acquaintance who bumps into them a few too many times for Akechi’s liking.
They decide to investigate these incidents, and everything goes downhill from there.
Six years after shooting Yaldabaoth in the head, Amamiya Ren takes down another Palace, struggles with his need to save everyone, and manages to have a heart-to-heart with the person who tried to shoot him in the head.
