“Ah, well,” Kabru said, covering his mouth with his hand in an attempt to stifle a moan, “there are a variety of reasons, though I imagine that you would find most of them unreasonable.” He glanced at Laios to check if he was willing to listen to the explanation. Laios' gaze was fixed on him with a look of admiration and devotion. His hand remained on Kabru's pubic mound. Kabru cleared his throat. “I know you haven't had any experiences with dating and sex before we met, so I can't fault you for not knowing anything about it,” he said patiently, stroking Laios' cheek as he spoke, “but to put it simply, there are certain unspoken rules and expectations associated with those things.”
Laios knitted his eyebrows, pouting. “There always are, huh? Unspoken rules...”
“I'm afraid so,” Kabru said, offering an apologetic smile. “Well, the good news, I suppose, is that you don't have to worry about this particular set of rules anymore,” he added in a reassuring tone, “and for as long as I am with you, I will explain everything you might be confused about!”
“That is pretty nice,” Laios said, his expression softening instantly. “So what are the rules?”

Summary
Kabru has always struggled to take care of himself. He never felt there was time for sleep or a proper meal down in the dungeon, but his new position as the King's advisor shows him their importance. Laios is insistent he eats three well-rounded meals a day, though Kabru never excepted that to come with the added bonus of being hand fed by Laios himself. With their growing closeness, and Laios' caring nature weighing on his affection for him, Kabru is sure to embarrass himself somehow. Or maybe he'll get a feast great enough to last him a lifetime.

It had been three years since Laios had taken the throne, and people were beginning to talk. He needed a line of succession. The sooner, the better. As the first true king in a thousand years, it seemed important that the new system be a traditional one. One that didn't push boundaries and tensions between factions that were already strained. The simplest solution was biological, and for that, Laios needed a bride. Kabru had been the one to argue all of these facts.

One might think the worst part of being a newly-crowned King would be the long meetings, the impossibly uncomfortable clothes, or perhaps even one of Laios' new curses (and why does he have to have more than one, anyhow). No, those were a burden, of course, but there was an even larger challenge ahead of him.
“I believe it is about time the king seeks out a consort,” Yaad states, much to Laios' horror and Kabru's resignation.
Or, in which Laios reluctantly seeks a potential spouse, and Kabru makes the reckless decision of trying to court a king.
