"I can't do this much longer." Anders muttered to himself as Hawke looted bodies and Isabela made another pass at Fenris. It was all fine, he mused. No one ever took him seriously unless he was glowing.
He wanted to stay strong, but he was just waiting to break down. He was terrified that this time he wouldn't be able to. Already, he felt nothing.
He stopped listening. Followed the others through the paces. And he refused to even breathe from his mouth so he didn't taste the coppery air where so much blood magic had been cast. He could imagine no more snark, nothing more to add to the scenes around him.
He was no more aware of what was around him in the bar later. Perhaps that was best. After all the torture of the day's events, Anders would not have appreciated the green eyes watching him shatter.

Starts cracky, but gets semi-serious, decently quickly. Never gets entirely serious, because hello, Purple Hawke does not ‘serious’. Or at least three of them don’t all at once. IT’S A GODDAMN ROMANCE. JUST READ IT.

Summary
Fenris and Anders both work for Hawke- the biggest organized crime boss this side of the Waking Sea- Fenris as an enforcer, Anders as a drug supplier. Against the odds, they have managed to forge something resembling a normal relationship out of their lives. That is, until Fenris doesn't come home one evening.
The frustrating thing about dating a mob enforcer was that you had all the usual fears of someone whose significant other is hours late coming home- car accident, injury, he’s cheating on me- but you got to add a little spice to the panic with things like ‘he’s been arrested’, ‘he’s been killed’, or ‘he’s been abducted and is being tortured for information by Hawke’s rivals’.
If Fenris has been hurt, Anders is going to kill Hawke.
Then again, if Fenris hasn’t been hurt, Anders is going to kill Fenris.
