The history of South Korea and the native people who had lived in large groups was riddled with men from other lands who wanted to rule their country. During this time, Wolf packs were attacked and oppressed, and Betas (Humans) were taken from their families to be ‘saved’ from the ‘savage’ ways of pack life to live in ‘civilisation’ within the structured human towns that these men built. They referred to those natives as animals, beasts, and savages. Soon, Wolf packs were pushed further across land to live in smaller and smaller locations. In later years, packs were ‘given’ land by the South Korean government as their own, officially known as pack land, to keep them to their designated land, and were hunted if they stepped outside of it.

“I don’t know what to do, Karma.” Nagisa sighs, throwing his bag onto the bench in their entryway.
“What don’t you know, love?” Karma asks from the kitchen, the smell of tempura udon fills their house. The blunette makes his way into the kitchen, where Karma picks him up and places him onto the counter beside the oven, pressing a kiss to his lips with the movement before resuming the cooking.
Nagisa sighs again, “We got a new boy last week and he’s got longer hair and is quieter. He and one of my other students have been getting along well and they’ve become friends quickly.” The blunette moves his hands around for a couple seconds as if failing to find the right words to explain, “Some of the other students have been making fun of them, calling them gay, treating them like scum because of their appearance and their friendship.”

To be a Titan, is to be cursed. You aren’t a citizen, you are a monster. Most mothers crush the heads of their children if they’re one of the cursed, many are abandoned by their lovers if the child their bare is born as one of them. But to the ones that get to live their life, the situation isn’t any better. Hatred, and shame about their situation and appearance comes. Some countries use Titans instead of animals, using their strength and resilience to work fields, labour in mines and factories; to be a Titan is to be the backbone of the empire, they aren’t hated, but treated as a necessary evil of life. Some countries use Titans in their military, where the cursed give their lives up for the pure, the noblest sacrifice. Some have figured out how to trigger the true powers of a Titan, believing them to be angels sent by god, should this true power be discovered… it could mean the deaths of thousands.
Armin isn't one of the cursed, but he was born with an unusual fascination with them, and a cursed girl he met, who had the ability to speak.
