Complicated. That's one word for why James wants to reunite Sirius and Regulus. It's complicated.
Regulus, being the stubborn Slytherin, doesn't want to forgive Sirius because he feels he doesn't deserve it.
Sirius doesn't want to forgive Regulus because he doesn't think Regulus needs him anymore.
And James? James is just confused and trying to work through his own feelings while helping everyone else around him.

Visible from both hemispheres.” When he looked over, the man– Sirius– seemed surprised, his eyebrows raised as Remus spoke, and when Remus finished, he blinked a few times before smiling lopsidedly.
“Er– yeah,” he breathed a laugh. “That.” There was a baby on his hip. Somehow, it had taken Remus a second glance to notice that.

He feels Remus’ hands tighten against his waist, with one going to his ass to pull him in tighter, and he moans softly when he realizes how hard he’s gotten, his cock rubbing softly against Remus’ thigh.
When Remus pulls away from Sirius’ neck, his eyes are a little hazy, and Sirius knows he looks probably even more dazed. “You’re thinking about fucking my older self, aren’t you, Sirius?”
