Summary

The beginning of it all. From being forced to grow up too early and face life's traumas head on, to learning how to live life to its fullest regardless, this fic is about self-discovery and learning that you can overcome life's greatest challenges with your support system behind you (and also understanding that music heals the darkest parts of you that you can't reach yourself).
OR, Wilbur and Q meet in high school, and so their lives are forever affected by each other by simple circumstance. As they deal with abuse, custody court, life-threatening accidents and victories alike, they slowly grow to become each other's rock. Centering around Wilbur, Schlatt and Quackity, this story is the first of three in a series.
(If you're reading this to catch up to Lather the Blood, I know the first few chapters go by way quicker than the rest of the story. Bear with me. I was experimenting, it gets better.)

“Let’s not jump to conclusions,” Sam says. “I noticed a murmur when I was listening to his heart, is all. I’d like to order some labs and tests, just to be on the safe side.”
Phil nods, trying to breathe through the sudden tightness in his chest. “How serious could it be?”

Tommy is fourteen now. The last house was one of the worst, and Tommy’s pretty sure he’s gonna be feeling it all through his body for a while, but he gave out as good as he got. He’s not gonna take that shit lying down ever again.
“You’re going to be safe in this house, Tommy.” His new social worker’s voice is gentle. Puffy’s not watching him- kind of can’t be, when she’s driving. “I can promise you that.”
Tommy doesn’t tell her that he doesn’t trust social workers anymore. He can’t trust that the newest foster parents won’t hurt him.

They did buy him rain gear- bright blue boots and a shiny yellow coat that’s probably too big for him- and if he wears enough layers, and doesn’t stay out too long, and if she gets him warmed up later, there’s no reason he shouldn’t have the quintessential childhood experience of jumping in puddles.

This was the worst day of Tommy’s life.
Okay. The worst day of his life was an exaggeration- he had had many horrible days that were no match for today- but today was still pretty shitty. And it wasn’t even half way over.
Tommy’s face pressed up against the window as he watched the rolling fields pass, his breath fogged up the glass. The scenery had been the same thing for the past hour, the same dry grass, the same yellow color, the same feeling of dread. Classic rural scenes.
“You’re going to be good this time, right?” Laura asked, her overly cheery voice an obvious mask for her distaste.
Tommy scoffed. Yeah right.

Techno doesn't even get a day to hang out as a civilian after Ozymandias was taken. Techno never got to see Ozymandias much. Only seeing the other for small, minor injuries that were easily treated with traditional medicine. But Ozymandias' plants were amazing. Techno loved the potatoes and carrots especially. Not that he was allowed to have them very often.
Angel’s eyes grow brighter green and he stretches his hand toward Techno. “Say hello to Wilbur for me, would you, son?” Angel smiles and then Techno feels a feeling akin to being shoved in a closet.
------Philza is a lonely man since the Hero Association took his wife, also known as Lady Death. He finds some kids who his wife may or may not have nudged into his path. Oh, and Philza has a way of keeping his newly acquired children in one place and he doesn't have to worry about them escaping.

(Yes the title is from sofia the first, yes I'm laughing at it, I find it funny-)
In which Phil has created the Antarctic Empire from the ground up and takes in Techno and Wilbur along the way, and raises them while also ruling his kingdom. Tommy, sixteen, lives with Tubbo in an orphanage, the two of them running around in the cold streets of their town.
After a hectic day of getting separated from Tubbo, getting into a few fights, and ending up in an entirely new town, he comes across Phil, and saves him from an assassination attempt by smashing a plate over someone's head.
So then both Techno and Wilbur decide to see who this kid is, and Tommy sure is endearing, in the way that the first time they spy on him, he starts a fight in an alleyway over a bag of cookies.
(and then Tommy basically gets kidnapped into the royal family, but like, legally, y’know?)
