He intended to just sleep off the concussion at best, or take a potion the next morning when they restocked on them at worse. He probably shouldn't have gone outside where he was easily seen while not at his best and without basically any of his items.

Humans are similar to plants, in the way that seasons affect their well being. In spring and summer, people tend to be happier. In winter, people tend to be more negative. Fall, the transition period between summer and winter, is just that. A transition period. Not quite happy, not completely sad. Melancholy, perhaps, could fit the emotions of fall. A slow descent into depression. With each fallen leaf, we get closer and closer to winter, to depression. The plants will be wilted and humans will be miserable.
