Summary
Vortex picks up the laser scalpel he lifted from First Aid’s subspace during search and seizure and turns it between his claws. It's a nice piece of equipment, well kept, so pristinely clean that Vortex might suspect it's never been used if not for the subtle divots in the handle worn there by First Aid's fingers. The Autobots take care of their equipment.
He looks at First Aid's hands. They're resting on the table, shackled, folded one neatly over the other. His posture is relaxed, like he's simply waiting for something perfectly mundane to happen.
They catch themselves a pretty little piece of Autobot aft. Onslaught wants to know where Optimus Prime is. Vortex wants to know what makes First Aid tick.

"Hey there, pretty little medibot," Brawl sing-songs from behind First Aid. Two strong arms loop around his waist and lift him straight off the ladder with a rattle. "Guess who's back?"
"Hands, Brawl! Let me put down the glass," he yelps, holding the tray of sample vials aloft so Brawl doesn't jostle them into shattering. Brawl swings him down onto his feet with more care than he usually handles anything else and nothing breaks. First Aid counts it as a small victory. "These are important."
First Aid has a creative solution for handling his imprisonment by the Combaticons. The trouble is, it eventually starts working a little too well.

[just like her carrier, who also took part in the Vosian racing festival long ago. It was where she met Terminus] so Megs isn’t adopted. Hmm, the family lineage must go through terminus then. Sure hope nothing happens to him to make Megs into the only heir

["He's here in Tarn?!" He needed to alert his elite squad commanders immediately] so. Was there a war and megazarak went into hiding afterwards? If he’s terminus, it would explain his paranoia
[femme here in Tarn is, without a doubt, a grandcreation of Megazarak] oooh, so terminus isn’t him. The plot thickens! Where is granddaddy?
Honestly I’m thinking that this story is much better than I expected. Instead of a kinda shitty guilty pleasure read like I’m used to, it’s got somewhat developed worldbuilding and good pacing. I’m actually excited as to the reveal of what’s going on with Megs’ line

[an opportunity for both her sire and herself to escape] it’s a risky gamble, but it may just pay off. It’s better than nothing
The family tree seems to be: knight of vos (solarstorm) & knight of kaon (megazarak?) have Sky (verena). Sky and terminus then have Megs. Damn
[go without me] I’m so scared that terminus will be executed. How could he not be? It’s tragic
[Tarn said. "I will wait for you, however long it takes] I’m glad I was wrong about tarn, he genuinely seems like such a sweetheart now. I suppose every iteration of tarn will be loyal to Megatron
[Megatron and Terminus both escaped] YES YES YES that poor old mech got out alive!
[It puts my spark at ease to know you'll be safe here] winglord jetstorm took Megs in! Things are looking up, and the drama’s getting juicy!
So no one ever told megazarak, why? Clearly the winglord was in contact with him when he asked if he was guilty, so why not tell him then? Is megazarak dangerous?

Vortex has crunched up and spat out another pilot (again), and First Aid has gone in to retrieve them (again). Only this time, Vortex doesn't seem to be keen to let him go...
With the Quintesson threat looming, they can't take any chances. If only the AI would quit going so rogue.AKA the one where Jazz just can't stay dead, Swindle is haunted by (literal) ghosts, and nobody is making the healthy choice.

If slightly fucked up mecha pilot stories are your thing, you'll love this.
That is not to say that the main leads being freaks is the end of it, oh no. This story will make you feel things. The chapters aren't told in an entirely chronological order and some of the chapters in the past, when things just started to get bad, will take you out back and make you face the wall. Especially knowing where the characters will end up. I've cried real tears over this.
At some of these points the writing really stood out. Most of the fic is well-written in a way where youre so lost in the sauce that you don't really notice it but then you get hit with a piece of dialogue or a cleverly worded sentence that makes you stop just to marvel at it.
The story itself starts somewhat simple and chapter by chapter more moving parts get revealed. Characters chasing their own goals, worldbuilding, past events that put everything into a new perspective, all that. It was insanely engaging.
Totally recommend giving this a try! (Personally, i cannot wait for the next chapter)
