Summary
Steven sank into the warm water of the tub, swiftly shutting off the valve with his other hand. The diamond essence swirled around his torso in shivers of yellow, blue, and white, enveloping him in a hug. Tears streamed from his eyes and into the water, pink now bleeding into the colors below. A sob wrecked through him. His eyesight was coming in and out, his nervous hands shaking. The pink glow was merely mocking him in return. His knees pressed themselves inwards, arms hugging them close. “Please work.” he murmured, a hiccup escaping his frame. “Please.” His eyes shut tight. His hand picked at the new scales on his right arm, itching. They were getting worse.
Or, Steven starts to corrupt with any strong emotion. Chaos ensues.

Summary
Steven swallowed, looking out across the ocean. The sun had almost disappeared, the red sky growing purple. They thought he was happy, that he was thriving. He couldn’t be the one to pull them out of that fantasy, not when they were finally able to grow on their own. Steven forced his lips into a smile, and it felt so easy. Everyone had enough to worry about, he didn’t need to add to the list of things. No-one else should have to have to fix him.
Or...
Everyone is finally happy, growing and thriving. The Crystal Gems loved helping run Little Homeschool, and loved teaching new gems everything about Earth, and how embrace change. But Steven... Steven was struggling. Glowing pink, unstable, and unwilling to let anyone else worry about him, his spiral downwards can only get worse.

Connie offered her hand, though his grip stayed on her forearm.
“Um..” his voice was quiet and delicate, unlike she’d ever heard. “Are you talking to me?” He asked, his voice sizzling and popping like static.
His head finally lifted. Connie’s gaze met Steven’s, and she couldn’t contain her gasp.
Instead of warm, welcoming chocolate irises meeting hers, Steven’s eyes had gone completely blank.
Connie pulled away in shock. “Steven?”
