Aurora offers him a tight, thin-lipped smile. “I gathered that wasn’t the norm.”
He chuckles. “Gods, no. I mean, the fighting, yeah, but the uh… The clone thing? That’s a newer one.”
She tips her head back, letting it lightly hit the stone of the wall behind her. The hallway’s ceiling is held up by beautiful pillars that meld into arches, supporting the weight of stone and crushing rock. For a brief moment, the weight of it all, of the journey that stretches before her alongside the strangers she’s entrusted her life to and followed into the depths, feels enough to destroy her.
“Hey.” Chip’s beside her, now. He nudges her lightly with his shoulder and tilts his head back to follow her gaze. “It’s, uh. It’s a lot. But it gets easier, y’know? And none of us have died yet.”

Summary
Running is freeing.
It's something Tesla has learned over the years. Sure-footed in a bramble-coated forest, they race through familiar trails, weaving between tree trunks and tracing murky streams. They know every landmark, every location of volunteer stalls for supplies and medical aid, every damn inch of dirt and muck and pure untamed wild.
They may not have an alpha's nose, or an omega's tricks, but there's still something primal about it all. No houses, no civilisation. Just the smell of pine sap, the crunch of needles and leaf litter underfoot, animal trails carving through bushland that presses on without an end in sight.
There's nothing but themselves and the flora. No sideways glances, no fighting for so much as a sliver of recognition, just open air and raw adrenaline.

“Woah, what the fuck?” Chip’s hands fly to the hilts of his swords. “What the hell— Caspian, man, let him go.”
“Be quiet,” Caspian snaps, though his voice wavers; the hand holding the dagger trembles a little. “How do I know it’s you?”
