Summary
Rumi looks down. “Your soul,” she whispers mournfully, enraptured by the blue light trickling out of his chest. “It’s beautiful.”
Jinu smiles.
Gently, he presses his forehead against hers. Rumi jolts, eyes widening, but to his relief, she doesn’t pull away.
“My soul,” he echoes softly. “It’s yours, now.”
Rumi opens her mouth, but no words escape her as she gapes at him. A tear cascades down her cheek.
“It’s mine to give, and yours to take, if you’ll have me.” His vision is blurring, and so he lets his eyes fall shut, allowing the darkness to encompass him. He forces himself to believe that the lull of sleep is accepted of his own volition.
His cheeks tingle. Rumi is holding onto his face. “No, no, no—” she grits out. Her voice is growing distant. “Stop. You can’t do this to me.” The words rush out of her in a frenzy, full of haste and distress. “Jinu.”
“Rumi,” he responds in a broken murmur. “Thank you.”
She was right. Gwi-Ma could be defeated.
He should have listened to her.
(Or: A fix-it/time-travel au where Jinu goes back to the very beginning of the story and sets things right.)

It's been a year since the streets of Hawkins, Indiana split open, since the Upside Down became the right side up. They managed to kill whatever had become of the last (truly) living member of the Creel house, but not before Hawkins became a ghost town. Now, the population is barely pushing seven hundred, but they decide it's safer that way.
They thought everything with the Upside Down, with Vecna, with the Mindflayer, with Brenner and everything else had ended, had gone away. They thought they were safe, finally.
Oh, how wrong they were.

Summary

Darcy Lewis didn’t expect Bucky Barnes to listen to her paranoid worries, but a week later—when she's attacked for digging into the mystery and calls Bucky for a rescue—he assigns himself as her bodyguard and pulls in the other New Avengers to help untangle the nefarious plans of a sinister company. And he does it all while he also tries to work through his intimacy issues so he can have what he really wants: Darcy. (Special note: The non-con warning is for Bucky's past with HYDRA.
