At the top of the hill —a very, very tall hill they had taken too many hours to climb— Lancelot had dared him to a race to the bottom. Merlin didn’t want to, at first. He had gone up all the way for some stupid medicinal flowers, and if he lost them because he tripped and his bag flew open, he’d be extremely upset. But then Lancelot had goaded him with a ruffle of his hair and a hand to his elbow and, well, Merlin was terrible at denying him anything.
