Dean Winchester, a hedonistic, Primal Omega, spends one Heat with a gorgeously smelling ebony Alpha with a rare pink eye flare. His name is Raphael and Dean falls hard. Sadly, Raphael is a businessman only passing through town on a work-related trip. He asks Dean to come with him but circumstances make Dean unable to say yes.
Fast-forward five years and Dean’s in New York with a vainglorious hope to find the Alpha that made such impression on him. All he has to go on is a forename since he can’t remember exactly what Raphael smelled like. On top of that, Dean’s determined to keep the Packrunning lifestyle he grew up with. Not necessarily the easiest thing to do in a world dominated by Conservatives and Progressives, where even most Primals have bought into the idea of mating monogamously with a ‘truemate’ and no longer run in Packs. Dean, like all Packrunners, doesn’t believe in truemates. He believes the heart is big enough to love many. He is living proof of it.
Good thing too, because once he hustles himself into a job at the Williams Enterprises he finds himself crushing on the scent of all four Williamses occupying the corner offices on the top floor.

Cas and Dean. On their own they're pretty well adjusted outwardly, but together everything turns into a chicken race. Their chemistry is the kind you make explosives from. And what started out as simple rivalry between two hockey players on opposing teams soon develop to something much more, spilling over from the ice into their private lives.
Lucifer and Sam... not exactly lifting fingers to discourage their respective team mates. Possibly due to ulterior motives?

Highly recommend this series about Dean with trauma-induced sex repulsion. I haven't come across a story like this before that doesn't automatically solve the problem of an ace and an allosexual trying to have a relationship without either making the ace gray, or having the allo be overly self-obliterating with no angst of their own. But here we see things from the ace perspective while glimpsing the angst the allosexual might feel about finding out their partner is ace months into the relationship. There's no magical cure, just profound respect, care, and honest conversation leading to the happy ending. :)

Summary
Dean is still not used to Sam’s new lover, the necromancer and blood mage Lucifer, when even more mages show up on the Winchester lands. Michael and Raphael claim they’re after Lucifer because of crimes he commited and they have to bring him back to their homeland so he can be brought to justice. But is Lucifer actually guilty? And then there’s the fact that having Lucifer taken from him will break Sam’s heart. Dean can’t allow that, even though the more he talks to Michael the more he starts to like the stubborn bastard.
And Michael knows it’s his duty to capture and return his brother Lucifer home, but the more he talks to Dean the more he starts to doubt that everything he thought he knows is true.Series

This verse made me remember why I love fantasy, after having grown tired of it years ago. :) Both this story and the one before. I also connected with Raphael as a character more closely than I'd ever done before. It's well worth the read! :D

Keep your head down. Work hard. Never wear a hat in the wheelhouse or your luck will take a nosedive. This is the rookie advice that Jared gets in his first few days as a deckhand on board an Alaskan crabbing boat, in between catnaps and ice storms, twenty-foot seas and more near misses than he really wants to count. He also learns early mornings followed by late nights aren't enough to kill a person, but ten minutes in below freezing waters might be, and that the biggest favor he can do for himself is to try and stay on the captain's good side.
Jensen rose quickly through the ranks to become one of the youngest captains the fleet has ever seen, but he has been around long enough to know that no one ever gets through a season without a few battle scars. It's Jared's quick wit, sarcastic mouth, and a particular sort of point-of-no-return look about him that makes Jensen hire Jared on a whim, reminds Jensen a little of himself fifteen years ago. There's nothing better than watching the morning break over the bow of the ship - Jensen just needs to keep Jared alive and well long enough for the kid to figure that out for himself.

Loved this one! The slightly poetic way it's written helps set the tone, makes it easier to feel the environment, taste the salt and feel the chill in your bones. It's witty, tense at times, and adventurous. It's well worth reading. :D
