„Yes?“, asked Merlin, puzzled.
Gaius nearly fell off his chair.
„Merlin, I can’t see you!“, he shouted.
„What do you mean you can’t see me? I‘m right here“, Merlin replied. „Maybe you need to get your glasses checked, they aren’t working properly.“
„Merlin, look down at your hands!“
Merlin did. Or rather he tried. Because he found that he couldn’t look at his own hands because there were no hands to look at. His hands were still there because he could feel them and one of them was holding up his spoon. It was just that they weren’t there.Or: Merlin turns himself invisible by accident and finally gets to see Arthur freaking out about him missing in all his emotionally constipated glory.

Summary
It has been some time since Uther's death and magic is still forbidden in the Kingdom of Camelot.
After Merlin is forced to use his magic to save Gwen's life within the castle's very walls, Arthur finds evidence to convict an innocent woman of sorcery.
Gwen finds out that Merlin was the one responsible for the act that saved her, and offers to support Merlin, along with Lancelot and Gaius, in coming up with a way to help the wrongfully accused from meeting an undesirable fate.
When they can't think of a timely solution, Merlin forces it upon himself to take matters into his own hands and reveals his magic to Arthur.
Follow the story and watch it unravel as Arthur decides if he will follow the path of his father or become the once and future king Camelot deserves.

Merlin runs through the forest.
Arthur was enough of an idiot to ride out on a hunt without him, against the advice he was given.
And when the knights of Camelot for once retired back into the castle without their king, one knight with a head wound and the others with various levels of injuries Gaius now had full hands with, Merlin had no choice but to search for that moron himself, heart pounding in his chest.
Or, Arthur almost dies, again, Merlin rushing to his aid. And it wouldn't be the knights of Camelot without Lancelot being the best friend you can imagine, and Gwaine...well, being Gwaine.

If you like Arthur being down bad (and oftentimes stupid) and Merlin being god-levels of powerful, featuring the caring and comic-relief cast of knights, then you're in luck.
(I watched BBC Merlin for the first time in 2016, and I think Merlin is one of the best fictional characters of all time. Much of this is self-indulgent, Merlin-getting-the-respect-he-deserves kind of stuff. If you like strong/brave/wise/powerful Merlin, who handles everything on his own because he loves his friends too much to endanger them, then you'll like these. Also a lot of humor, or at least an attempt at it. Go nuts :)
