Summary

Summary
Arthur could see his father glaring down - face red and eyes narrowed as he looked at Merlin with clear distaste.
"Once this over, sorcerer...I’ll burn you."
"You’ve already tried that," Merlin’s voice answered and Arthur had to bite his fist to keep from making any noise. “You need to accept you can’t kill me… Hand me that blanket, please.”
“I’m sure there must be some method… Beheading?”
“No, we tried that.”
“Hanging?”
“I just sort of... Swung there, remember?”
There was another pause.
“I should have made you keep that dragon below the castle so I could feed you to it.”
“Kilgharrah? He won’t eat me, but if you want to torture me than making me listen to his nonsense for an hour might do it.” Merlin said and there was a soft sigh from the other end of the room. “I’m glad you agreed to help me though. Usually I have to do the grunt work of saving Arthur myself.”
“I can’t wait to kill you.”
Or
Uther finds out about Merlin’s magic, but can’t seem to kill him. Merlin is just trying to protect Arthur. They become a begrudgingly effective duo. Arthur doesn't understand why they think he isn't noticing this.

Summary
When Merlin's mate, Will, was teasing him about being single, Merlin cracked and simply invented a boyfriend to make Will shut up. Unfortunately, his mum overheard and was so happy for him, that he couldn't bring himself to tell her that it wasn’t true. Things got a little out of hand when Merlin continued to embellish the lie until he had a fully-formed pretend serious boyfriend that his mum wanted him to bring to the family Christmas party...
It was only when his friend, Gwen, pointed out that the boyfriend Merlin had made up sounded a bit like Arthur - who was part of their group of friends but not Merlin's favourite person in the world - that the idea of asking the prat to pretend to be his boyfriend at the party formed. Perhaps not the best idea ever - Merlin just hoped to be able to make it through the party without anyone guessing the truth.

Summary
The first time Arthur notices that Merlin disappears at the most inconvenient of times is after he miraculously survives the bite of the Questing Beast. He might've forgotten all about it if it didn't keep happening; if it didn't leave him with a worrying obsession over what his servant is up to—only out of concern, of course. It's when they're searching for Morgana that Arthur finally gets a chance to follow, though he might end up finding much more than he bargained for.
He's not sure he's complaining, though.

Arthur practically growled, ignoring that jab entirely, and released a wall. Thick fingers wove into the tuft of hair at Merlin’s neck and tugged just hard enough to direct his attention back and part his lips.
“What do you suggest I do with you, Merlin? Would you like me to lock you in the dungeons again?” Arthur licked his lips and peeked at Merlin’s backside. “Perhaps another morning in the stocks?”
Merlin’s mouth went dry. The panting returned and his body reacted in ways that the shadows thankfully covered, but only so long as Arthur didn’t move any closer.
Which, of course, the prat did if only to torture his new toy.
Arthur took another step, now towering over Merlin, and in that small space they fit together like sword and sheath. The prince’s next whispered words erected in taunt and dripped in supplication.
“Don’t go dumb on me now.”
Merlin’s urges throbbed like a second heartbeat, filling out his pants and dampening his tongue. The aggravation from that tease toppled all sense, the final fatal thrust. He leaned in as if telling a secret and let his own needs spill through salivating lips into royal ears.
“Or, just this once, you could actually take me apart, my lord.”

“I can’t do it! I can’t work for that arrogant prat! He is impossible! You won’t believe what he just asked me to do!” He shook his head fiercely, his cheeks heating up again.
“What did he ask?” Gaius asked.
Merlin made an embarrassed squeaky groan. He could feel his face burning. “He asked me to…” He stopped pacing and took a deep breath. “Rub his sword!”
Gaius lifted one eyebrow, it arched perfectly over his right eye. “Yes, you have to look after his weapons-”
