Tales of Inquisitor Sebastian Vael by persephoneggsy
Fandom: Dragon Age (Video Games), Dragon Age II, Dragon Age: Inquisition
31 May 2022
Summary
In the midst of reclaiming his throne, Sebastian Vael is sent to the Conclave as the chantry representative of Starkhaven. Instead of helping broker peace between the mages and templars, however, he walks away the sole survivor of a devastating attack, with a strange magic mark affixed to his hand. Now the only one capable of sealing the Rifts that threaten Thedas, the would-be Prince of Starkhaven resolves to help the burgeoning Inquisition in its quest to bring the world back to order. He doesn't think he's much of a hero - he's no Hawke, after all. But Maker help him, he'll do his best.
Or, more simply: a retelling of Dragon Age: Inquisition, but with everyone's favorite chantry prince as the Inquisitor.

Summary
Stories from the Fade. Each one highlights a different minor NPC. If the Hero, Champion, or Inquisitor appear at all, they're too busy with Important Business to be more than a footnote.
None of these stories are related to each other, so I've put them in alphabetical order. You can read them in whatever order you want.

Summary
Since we control the Inquisitor, we know they won't turn evil and start ripping holes in Thedas. But NPCs don't know that. To them, the Inquisitor must seem like a ticking time bomb.
In this one-shot, a bureaucrat in Rivain grapples with that problem... along with the more pressing problem of Venatori attacks on local farms.

He turned, and faced the undead again. Horror locked around Raistlin’s throat and heart as they came, a terrible tidal wave of death that would breach his fire, rip him to pieces, fall on Horkin and Scrounger and the Baron and tear them apart too. They would devour Sandstrike. They would murder the slaves. They would kill his brother.
Was this how Magius had felt, all those millennia ago? When he had faced the dragonqueen’s forces and known this was the end? That his death was assured, and all that mattered now was how high a price he could get for it? Raistlin reached into himself, beyond the rapidly emptying well of the magic, to touch the flame of his own life-force. As he had once before. In the basement in Poolbottom, facing a little scrap of parchment that would decide his entire life. I, Magus.

When I Consider How My Light Is Spent
“When I consider how my light is spent,
Ere half my days in this dark world and wide,
And that one talent which is death to hide
Lodged with me useless, though my soul more bent
To serve therewith my Maker, and present
My true account, lest He returning chide...”

Summary
The fey have decided it was time to make their move. One faerie however, had a different idea in mind. In order for his plan to work, he had to break all the ancient rules and codes that he had been raised with -but lets face it, what else was he good at besides causing chaos and breaking rules?
Resurrection as never seen before occurs in the Silent City, and of all the shadowhunters brought back, only one is fully functional: William Herondale. Magnus, responding to this call of magic in the City of Bones, finds Will and brings him to the only person who could possible keep Will roped in: James Carstairs.
And now cue the faerie attacks, modern swim suits, a Herondale meeting a Herondale, and the chaos of having two Herondales in close proximity fighting a war against the world's oldest trouble makers. And let's not forget, one Herondale fresh from 1800s London and the other from modern New York.Oh, and Tessa is missing. Again.

Not the best execution, bit an awesome idea. It would have probably been smoother to write it pre-kids era, since the kids are only even mentioned once.

Summary
300 years A.P. (After Praimfaya), after suffering for 5 years under Heda Malachi, or Sheidheda, as he was nowadays called, Lexa kom Trikru has a vision.
She will not kill her brothers and sisters, she will not allow her people to be afraid anymore.
No more Conclaves, no more Sheidheda.
This story starts 297 years after the Nuclear Apocalypse, as opposed to the 97 years of the show. This is mostly because 97 years is not nearly enough time for a culture as complex as that of the Grounder's to develop.
The Ark has been told that the ground would be survivable after 400 years, instead of the 200 years of the show. This is mostly, again, to give time for the Grounder culture to develop.
The Grounders have set as year 0 the year of the Nuclear Apocalypse, aka. Praimfaya.
There are more people on the Ground and in the Twelve Clans, the same is true for the Ark, but there is, like, 1 person more for the Ark for every 100 in the ground.
The Flokru do not exist. In my understanding, the Flokru were created by Luna after she fled the Conclave. She never did that here, so the Flokru have been replaced with Okenadon, the Ocean Clan.
Sheidheda is the Heda before Lexa.

Cullen Rutherford isn't proud of who he is, and he hates who he used to be. The Inquisition was meant to be his way to atone, to set things right. Struggling with his addiction and mounting pressures of a growing army, he's caught off guard when he meets the Herald. She's ruthless, efficient, but when he catches a glimpse of how tenuous her confidence is, he finds a mirror to himself. Hopefully, more.
**
Milliara Lavellan is not what Thedas expected in a hero: she's not Andrastian, not a warden, not a good person. But Thedas doesn't seem to care, leaving her labelled the Herald of a God she doesn't believe in.
Milliara can only hope Corypheus doesn't find out what she's hiding. If he does, he could use it to bring her to her knees... and Thedas with her...
