Summary
To Captain Kaz ‘Dirtyhands’ Brekker, his first mate The Wraith and his sharp-shooter Jesper Fahey, their ship was the closest thing they had to a home. It was fondly named ‘The Barrel’ thanks to it’s ragged state when they first stole it (the joke being that it managed to keep them afloat, and not much more). The trio and their loyal, rugged crew traversed the southern realms of the True Sea, picking off trade ships and slavers as they went.
Kaz Brekker wants more, his sights set on bigger prizes and enough wealth to own (and burn) an entire fleet of ships. Inej simply wants Kaz, her family, and some semblance of a home that doesn’t need to float. Jesper has no idea what he wants, until they capture a Kerch Merchant ship, and he meets a boy just as lost as he is.

He had never thought so until now; in fact, it feels more like his father trying to get rid of him rather than accentuate his talents. Wylan is willing to do anything he can to get kicked out of school and ditch his strange Zemini roommate, but when he gets invited to participate in an elusive and dangerous club on campus... Well, how can he say no? With strange roommates like Jesper and even stranger classmates (just look at Kuwei Yul-Whatever and that odd Nina girl), it's obvious that something sinister is afoot. But that's not Wylan's job to handle... right?
This AU is loosely based off of The Secret History and other contemporary novels in the dark academia genre. Moderate depictions of gore, drug abuse, gaslighting, and violence will be important themes within this entire story. Discretion is advised.
