Summary
Urabrask is not a particularly hopeful person. But now, as Norn threatens to seize his people's freedom, he has no choice left.
In the darkness he screamed out to the fire in his blood to save them, and Capenna is what it answered. So he burns himself half to death to fetch a weapon that could devastate his own, just to gamble at a chance for freedom.
After all, isn't a gamble the best thing the Phyrexian people have had in a long, long time?
This is a rewrite of "The Side of Freedom" from Streets of New Capenna story, from Urabrask's perspective, from his initial scrying to his fateful conversation with Elspeth Tirel. -

Summary
The war of the Stepstones ends and brings old faces back to the Crownlands. The tentative grip Rhaenyra has on the court is put into disarray when Alicent returns with a decade of truth to support her actions. She does not come for a crown but it is clear the people entertain the whispers that promise a different heir. As they battle on the political field, Lucerys Velaryon finds himself unexpectedly in his first heat and the revelation of his omega dynamic. It does not help that the only alpha his omega yearns for is his mutilated uncle, once a petulant child, now a battle-hardened man who cares for him not.
Corlys Velaryon is not a man without a plan, priding himself on always being two steps ahead. Now he must try and dock House Velaryon with the winning side and balance his love for Daemion and Lucerys with his duty to his blood. All Aemond "Cyclops" Targaryen wishes to do is marry Daemion Velaryon, that is his sole motivation in returning to the Red Keep and the court. He is prepared for all matters of battle and war, however, he is not prepared to be met with the lustful eyes of Lucerys Velaryon and machinations about his person. Now, there is no doubt that he is the Blood of the Dragon.

Summary
When Beru is handed Luke Skywalker, she knows the man in travel-worn Jedi robes is telling her husband it would be better to start calling him Luke Lars.
Anakin Skywalker faced Darth Vader and he fell to him, he tells them. Vader must never find Anakin’s son.
Beru studies the baby in her arms. He is so small, eyes just as blue and downy hair just as blonde as the father he was born of.
Owen refuses Kenobi’s suggestion, though. He will raise the child as if he was his own, but on the legal forms he is his uncle, not his father. Owen has a grounded, linear, unmoving way of thinking. Like a boulder in the desert, too heavy for the winds to shift.
Beru agrees to keep the Skywalker name, but for a different reason than Owen. She doesn’t tell him that, though. Beru is like the wind, she flows around obstacles. It's how she survives.

The dual suns are setting now, the faintest hint of the desert song starting. As it slowly builds, a growing crescendo in time with the rising winds, she thinks she sees Vader tilt his head, as if listening to something in the distance.
She's only ever seen one person do that before. And for a wild moment, she wonders if it's Anakin under that helmet. He could have been separated from his son, she's all too familiar with how a child and parent can be pulled apart.
Kenobi said Anakin fell to Vader's saber, but maybe he was being figurative. Beru's mother was born of no father. She knows how people use words to hide things, to protect people, to mean something that cannot be spoken plainly.
But, no, she thinks as the flames creep from the walls of the homestead and up her syn-cotton clothing. A stormtrooper approaches the black cloaked figure. Soon night will fall and Vader will be indistinguishable from the darkness.
"Lord Vader," the stormtrooper says, "No sign of the droids."
Anakin Skywalker, Beru knows, would never have forsaken his mother's name.

Summary
Keigo, they call him. The mighty wings that pierce the heavens, the broad shoulders that cradle the sky above. They pray that he pull apart the clouds to let the sun shine, that he bring them forth once more to allow for rain. It’s a mystery to him how they suppose he has anything to do with these things, but their worship is not unwelcome, so he ponders it seldom.
There are others—ancient beings similar to he, for whom the smaller creatures also devote time and resources. The sun god, Yagi, who smiles down upon them all and yet, rarely speaks. He was around on the first day Hawks took to the skies, and would likely remain should Hawks ever truly perish.

then the bomb by all_these_ghosts
If, a hundred years from now, some other race came down from the stars and landed here, it wouldn’t look so different, really. No electric light, no smog. Just the dark and the stars and the little houses, slowly collapsing, and the lake, big enough to hold the whole universe.

Hello!
Welcome to my Ineffable Smut War / GOAD Smutwar 2024 contribution! Please read the tags and make sure to take care of yourself, because it turns out I can't write smut or generally anything without veering into trauma! *waves had at Christmas Fluff Series.
PLEASE READ THE TAGS!
This is a story of love, loss, coming home, and everything that never was. Join me for a re-telling of an Irish Celtic Myth that has been sanitised and long-forgotten. Taking place one hundred years into Early Christian Ireland, it weaves themes of spiritual colonisation with the ineffability of a great plan and the parts of us that are never truly lost.
There is a Demon in Snake Form / Goddess in Human Form for some of this. But both are aware of what the other is and able to consent. The Dubcon is more so because of enchantment, or reverting to primal urges.
The epilogue features angst with an unhappy ending. As you can imagine, the resistance to Christianity did not end well for the Irish Pagans. In the epilogue, one character describes witnessing the murder (no sexual assault) of another. But the story stands well enough on its own without the epilogue if you want to skip this part.
