    When Ranboo died something in Technoblade broke. His rage needed a target and, unfortunately, Dream was the closest one. This would turn out to be the wrong move when, a year later, he comes back from disappearing with Punz, an alive Ranboo and a god at his side, bringing armageddon with them.

    Now all the members of the server must put their problems aside, because a strange portal has opened in the sky and only Dream can be the key to closing it. But how can they do that when the former big bad is so changed, that they can’t even talk to him? Is he the same person anymore?

Dream never understood how he could get so attached to others like Ranboo did, but seeing his brother so happy made staying in the overworld worth it. Especially when he learns that finding more to add to their little family of two isn’t so bad either.

    Summary

    The Checkmate series is a canon-divergent Dream SMP AU in which Tommy never made it to Techno's house after escaping his exile, and is caught by Dream and dragged right back to Logstedshire. In this AU, Tommy is with Dream for a little over a year, with stricter rules and harsher punishments to keep him in line. Enduring Dream's abuse and manipulations for so long, Tommy finally breaks the way Dream wants him to; devoting himself well and truly to his former arch-nemesis, as they both fall for Dream's 'best friend' facade.

    L'Manberg believes him to be dead. Ranboo, Puffy and Phil have been missing for a year. Technoblade and Ghostbur have set off in search of Phil. Everything is in shambles. Relationships have split apart; others have grown and flourished. With no other choice but to try to move on from their losses, most of the remaining citizens of L'Manberg are doing whatever they can to take control of their lives again, to find happiness. With Techno gone, L'Manberg is somehow more at peace than it had been in a long time, even with Dream looming over their heads - there's nothing to fear, so they think.

    None of them are accounting for Tommy's return.

    That's probably why he didn't notice either the burning red of the traffic light or the rapidly rushing cars. He did not stop on his way, still confidently walking forward along the road.
    Most people didn't notice this kid’s maneuver. Some froze in horror, others tried to call him out, yet to no avail.
    To stop the guy literally walking under the wheels of cars, a shaved-headed guy who ran out after the teenager, had to grab him by the scruff of the neck, dropping him and by inertia himself on the back too.

    or, in which Tommy is a Demigod. He's a son of Death herself. Yet, he's the youngest son, so Wilbur is the one who becomes the right hand of their mother. So that leaves Tommy to work as a Postboy. A Peddler of Gifts, if you will.
