    A tugging sensation pulls him to the West of Hyrule, prompting him to discover what greater purpose lies beyond his completed heroics. Here, a voice tells him to ‘join them’… but who?
    And when he does find them, how is he supposed to easily move with their already established dynamic as the odd man out? How is he supposed to endure such a new change in life?
    And here he just wanted to retire peacefully in Hateno Village with Zelda.

    When Shadow shattered the Dark Mirror, he had expected to die. That had certainly happened. It was very painful and he would really like to not do it again.

    What he hadn't expected was to wake up on the floor of a very creepy castle, be mistaken for a severed portion of Dark Link's reflection of the Hero's Spirit, and essentially be coerced into working for Ganondorf to attack the group of time-traveling heroes that Link had apparently, somehow, joined.

    Shadow was only supposed to survive for long enough to figure out where the mirror that Ganondorf probably had his soul connected to was, and how to get back to Link. He wasn't supposed to get attached to Dark Link. He also wasn't supposed to start seeing a younger version of himself, from before Vio came crashing into his life, in him. He especially wasn't supposed to start trying to teach Dark how to live beyond the confines of the battle he had known for so long.

    Or, Shadow adopts a new kid/brother, pulls a Vio (in more ways than just spying on the enemy from inside), and has way too much fun mentally cussing out Ganondorf.

    AU where Cia, a powerful dark witch, creates 2/3 of the Chain (Sky -> Four -> Time -> Twilight -> Wild -> Warriors) as artificial magical beings – called aspects in this world – over the course of a number of years in a desperate bid to recreate the deceased First, who she was madly and unhealthily obsessed with. The other 1/3 of the Chain (Legend -> Hyrule -> Wind) are also aspects created by First's widow, Hylia, with the purpose of finding her and her late husband's young son, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

    “Congratulations!” Wild gasped, grinning ear to ear. And the others—

    Wolfie reared back from the women with a violent sneeze. Hyrule tripped over thin air. Wind’s eyes went comically wide. Sky made a weird squawking noise. Four’s mouth dropped in silent horror.

    “Oh, how wonderful!” Warriors said, serenely oblivious to the chaos happening around him. And Legend?

    Legend was going to kill everyone in the Chain and then himself. Because are you fucking serious.

    Time gets pregnant. Everyone else notices this before he does.

    (AKA: I saw all the trans!Time headcanons, and then thought, "Wait, if Twilight is his canonical blood descendent then that means..." promptly followed by, "You know what would be really fucking funny.")
