Sleep took a long time to return to normal. There was a long and tangled time from the destruction of Meteor to the point where the world seemed capable of turning on its own again. When Tifa’s life was not interrupted by a hundred things she needed to do, when there were not a thousand emergencies every-day. When she lived in a home again, one with a complete roof, with a working electrical system and taps producing clean, drinkable water whenever she turned them on.
Tifa can't sleep.

Summary
Sitting at a table with Cid and Cloud was not an intended outcome of Yuffie's plans for the evening. Said plan had few specifics to it, but did operate under the general notion of not involving Cid. A few reasons for that, but the most important at the moment: he remained the member of her sprawling extended family she got on least well with. Cloud she had a lot of time for - long since mellowed from his harsher, dismissive attitudes on his first visit to Wutai.
Yuffie finds herself sharing a table with Cid and Cloud at the Avalanche post-Meteorfall party.

Summary
The train shifted away from Tifa, upsetting Aeris’s balance ahead. She grabbed for the train beside her; she let go looking panicked as the train slid away from her and fell back. Another crane wobbled from the impact and slowly toppled. Some other distant crash sounded and the crane jolted forward. Right towards them. No time to think; Tifa grabbed Cloud’s waist and with a pivot moved him out of danger, the pointed end of the crane punching a deep groove into the concrete.

Somewhere along the line, a black-haired SOLDIER received orders to keep an eye on her. This was new and concerning. For the most part it was Tseng or Rude keeping an eye on her. For reasons never clear, it seemed paramount she return to Shinra of her own free will – hence Tseng’s irregular visits and attempts to appeal to her better judgement.

Summary
The space in which Tseng finds himself is dark, save for a single cold floodlight that conveniently illuminates the two essential features. The polished black marble floor on which he sits. The wall at his back, perfectly smooth and featureless reinforced concrete that stretches as far as he can see to the left, right, and above.
He knows this wall very well. He built it himself, after all. It should be a comforting image, this impenetrable barrier that keeps his work at work where it belongs. Except he sits there with his back against that wall, and he hears faint whispering voices in the distance, and something about this scene makes his blood run colder than the marble he’s sitting on.
It’s the meds, he thinks when he wakes up sweating. Once he’s off them, once he’s out of bed, once he’s back in uniform he’ll be back to normal.
