Definitely coming back to this.
Excellent writing and a premise I want to see develop.
It's better still. This story is possessed of such an unusual magnetism. It feels old-fashioned in a way that has only positive connotation to me- the kind of book I would have found at the library as a little girl and anchored some singular summer memory folded against my bedroom wall while I shared moments with all the fingers brushed with the same reverence down its pages grown a little fragile and discolored from oil and acid and time and light and all the more beautiful for it.
Robert Jordan at his best approaches this. If only if he'd grown confidence and collaborated with Terry Pratchett they might have made something like this. I'm quite engrossed and I hope it continues.

My mapping of possible pathways after the Marvel blip that removed 50% of the universe’s population (based only on what would happen on Earth, indeed, specifically in post-industrial countries).
Key assumptions:
1, Based on the shot of the crashing helicopter in the background when Fury is disappearing, there are a large number of deaths caused by car crashes, etc during the blip.
2, Based on the shot of the marching band reappearing on the basketball court in the Spider Man move, people reappear where they were blipped.
3, Given that Thannos intended to increase the proportion of resources per person, he blipped only sentient beings and not animals or plants. -
